From My Heart To Yours

2018-11-06 11.42.14 - CopyOh no, how time has gone by since my last post.

I kind of got side tracked by posting on Facebook. How could I, you may ask? Well it seems to be much easier to do that with my phone.

Yes, I know I can do blog-posts on the phone too. But it seem to be a little more tedious for someone like me that is not so computer oriented. LOL 2018-11-20 15.36.43 - Copy

So we all had the Fall season come and go… see some of my pictures from the fall.

Well guess what, we had minus 17 on November 22nd. A brisk walk through the local park that morning and again at night, so beautiful.

This slideshow requires JavaScript.

Then some more snow here and there…gurr with rain right after that.

All snow gone again. What? You say we are in winter?  Normal we would be into deep winter with Christmas just past, Guess again!!! Yesterday was December 28th. A usually very cold winter day here in Canada. ..BUT not yesterday!

Believe it or not we had a temperature of “+11” .Yes plus 11 degrees. People where walking around in short sleeves… (not me).Don’t think it have seen that before in my 34 years here in Canada!

So today I woke up to – 9, ladida yes minus 9. very drastic change  in temperature. I am So glad we can’t change the weather. 2018-11-18 13.59.16 - Copy

Coffee Shop Wrap

IMG_6172_medium2The colours in this wrap are just perfect for this pattern and guess what I used up all kinds of my left-over scarp yarns…well not really scrap yarn as it is all so wonderful and we never have scrap yarn if you are thinking like me…IMG_6142_medium2

I always tend to think what can I make with this little bit of yarn before I go to my perfectly full skeins that are just waiting to be use for

“THAT PERFECT PROJECT”

So if you are like me then you saved up many  PERFECTLY amazing yarn and use up the left-over yarns… smiles ….

I did say that I am not going to able to knit up all this yarn and wear it before I am not here anymore….well I decided to start using my So Amazing yarns and knit up something gorgeous. Even If I have to give it to an appreciating person that would wear it….so ok enough of this chabbering…lets get knitting… and designing my next project for January issue….off to work I go.

But here is the info for this fun wrap ….totally love it.

Coffee Shop Wrap by Alexandra Tavel

and the yarn is the best I have to say …smiles my own KnitSwissYarns and all in  Fingering 100% Superwash Merino Wool as I said all bits and pices …and needle size 4mm just really love that lose drap to the wrap.

Totoro Mittens

2016-12-21-14-32-09Totoro Mittens for my daughter.

Totoro is a character from  “My Neighbour Totoro”

Oh ok I have knit them for her for Christmas 2016 and I am totally forgot to show them to You…like so many other items I have knit since them…So I  have to catch up very fast. Seems like I have been busy posting about hikes or food lately.

Well the Totoro Mittens  by brella on Ravelry are a hit with my daughter. She loves them and apparently wears them all the time. Yeh I would too in this cold Canadian weather.

For the mittens I used two skeins of my “KnitswissYarns” in a DK weight  100% Superwash Merino wool so great far washing too. One in each colour gray and purple  and needle size 4mm. Yarn is soon available for online order too.

Baking,Baking…..more Baking

img_9158Woo isn’t in the kitchen this time of year…well It took a little for me this year. As I was chatting with my mom back home last Thursday it came to me I really should have some fresh new bread and cookies in our home too. So let’s get busy….in no time I had dough for two “Zopf”  rising and “Spitzbuebe” (a Swiss Cookie) cookie dough in fridge cooling to roll out later too

Ohhh soooo the bread was backing and the cookies had been filled with home-made Plume Jam too. Though I can also try one of my Cranberry-Vinegar. Perfect for Carrot salad dressing. My home was warm with all the baking aroma….Are You hungry yet?

img_9139
Cranberry-Vinegar a perfect vinegar for carrot salad dressing

Progress On My X-Mas Quilt

File 2016-08-21, 1 06 38 PMSo changed my pattern up a bit. Removed the top strip with the cars off and worked several borders around it as I liked it. Then cut out many cars and added them by sewing them on top of the quilt. Now ready to be quilted ….

I think this one is not bad for doing it all on my own with no pattern…File 2016-08-21, 1 06 58 PM

Apple Cinnamon Rose

Apples-Cinnamon Rose
Apples-Cinnamon Rose

Apple Cinnamon Rose

Tastes just as yummy as the  Raspberry Jam sweet Flower.

I am on a roll with this baking now. Love the sweet smell of home-baking in our home.

A sweet dough was rising this am and apples were peeled and coped. Then mixed together with cinnamon and sugar. Dough rolled into four rectangles and spread with apple cinnamon stuffing. Rolled up and then cut to sections, placed in a round baking dish and backed once again at 350 degrees for 30 -40 min drizzled with Icing sugar paste

umm sooo tasty.

Umm yummy
Umm yummy

umm sooo lecker.

This was yesterdays baking. One Pizza Twist and one Apple Cinnamon ...likes the smell of the apple and cinnamon so much just had to bake one for us too.

Hardanger Christmas Star

2015-12-03 16.15.26
I like to be unique so red with glitter gold thread was perfect fit for me.

As we all are putting out our christmas decoration up, I came across a special handmade decoration I had made several years ago. This red Christmas Star.

Smiles I was told just last week I should be putting this all out on the tables and not have them in storage.

I was the lucky women to have a mom and grandmother that shown me lots of stuff like knitting, crocheting, tatting, Hardanger stitching and much more.

I have to say this hardanger stitching is really amazing and you better make sure you count each single thread as you go along in the setup of the outside border. Because it will hurt much more to open up all the blocks if you are off by YES ONLY ONE THREAD!

2015-12-03 16.09.00
My Moms creation

Hardanger embroidery is a form of embroidery traditionally worked with white thread on white even-weave cloth, using counted thread and drawn thread work techniques. Hardanger fabric is an evenweave cotton material woven with pairs of threads of 22 count. The weave gives a squared appearance to the fabric  with distinct holes, making it easy to count and work on. DMC Pearl Cotton 5 is ideal for Hardanger Fabric. Use DMC Pearl cotton 8, for more delicate filling stitches and other surface details.

Have a look at some of the table runners most of them my mom did. I stepped out of the box and had to make the red once and one of the beige once for sure. They for sure take a while to finish!

Christmas Placemats

File 2015-11-29, 4 03 18 PMA great day to be sewing and cooking today.  We have not had chilli in some time so hubby gone out for a hicke thought it would be great to have a hot pot of Chilli all ready to enjoy together.

So while that was cooking in my crockpot ….what do I do next was the question? Yes I know knitting could be something.

But I had brought some great fabrics at my work “The Quilt Store”not to long ago and Christmas is soon here. So off I went and put together four placemats for kitchen island.

I really love this 9 patch pattern that Wendy got my hooked on. My squares are cut to a 6″x6″ then sewn together in a pleasing look.

2015-11-29 12.52.27
9 Patch Placemats.Smiles, so easy and fast to sew up. Even if you have not enough fabric from making the backing all the same. No problem, I usually have two the same so they can be turned around and enjoyed a little longer and it looks like I have a endless selection in placemats.

File 2015-11-29, 4 11 27 PM
Above you see the front with e different fabric patterns and the red backing for the 2 sets and the x-mass print for the other set.

Fall Rag Quilt

We sew quilts together and as we all know there is always leftover fabric from the quilt we just proudly finished. So no surprise I had a view pieces of flannel left from a previous quilt I put together.

Working at The Quilt Store , I get to see new fabric coming in and believe me the colours and prints are very hard to resist.

Truly believe with Clodagh our new Owner of the store, that the supplies will be gorgeous and you too will find what you are looking for your next project.

File 2015-11-21, 12 01 11 PMSo here is what I just put together this morning. This Rag Quilt is not finished as I am looking for a border to go around the edge.

Kind of got the sewing bug yesterday while I helped out at my friends booth “Divas Quilting Studio”

at the Seasons Christmas Show

Ursula has some amazing quilts for sale till tomorrow November 22nd. Great Christmas gifts at really good prices.

Myrtille Shawl

Myrtelle
Myrtelle

Myrtille by Coralie Grillet

A wonderful pattern that was  especially designed for this kit-a-long by “Siidegarte” for the last Christmas Season 2014. (Sorry I know I am a little behind in this post)

2015-01-10 17.49.31
Siide-Fideel is a wonderful soft Silk/Merino yarn and with this Xmas special edition colour even nice to know we have a one of a kind shawl. 1 skein = 600.0 meters (656.2 yards), 150 gram for mine I used needle US7 -4,5mm

I have ordered a view skeins from Siidegarte in the past and was happy with their services and the yarn. What makes it special to me is that it is from my home country and all there skeins  are named with a true Swiss name. In  “Schwiizerdütsch”

Man Hat

2014-11-10 13.24.39“Man Hat”

as it is called…well I have added a PomPom but you can leave it off and then it would be perfect for your Man.  The pattern is really wonderful and great for so many yarns.

This Man Hat by Haven Leavitt is available for free on Ravelry.

I used US 8 – 5 mm needle and yes a discontinued yarn from Cascade Yarns “Jewel” Hand Dyed with 129 meters (142 Yards) one skein was enough gorgeous blue tone one tone colour.

“Mann-Hut”
