Ok all this made me knit this Rikki hat as my hat kept on moving over my eyes having fun in the snow….So with one skein of DK weight yarn and a circular needles of I went. Knit up very fast. So happy with this on….only all the snow is gone now…
Schneefall erst vor 10 Tagen … Ein wirkliches Winter-Wunderland mit so viel Schnee auf den Bäumen. Der Schnee von den Bäumen schüttelt, als ich darunter stand … Schnee-Engel im Schnee machen … ja wie ein Kind …. So viel Spaß! Das tut richtig gut!
Ok, das hat mich dazu gebracht, diesen Rikki-Muetze zu stricken, während mein Hut immer wieder über meine Augen ging und Spaß im Schnee hatte …. Also mit einer Strang DK-Gewichtgarn und einer Rund- Nadeln ging es los. Strick sehr schnell. Toll wie diese Muetze sitzt nur haben wir keinen Schnee mehr …..
It has been bitter cold in the past weeks. With below -25 even -30 degrees it is easy to find ice pictures on many of our windows.I really liked this one from this mornings freeze. I know it looks nice when the sun shines into them but that sunshine and clear sky makes it even colder.
We all know there are many people out there that homeless and really cold. I know of a view of us that are working on knit blankets or quilts for the shelters and we hope to make someone happy and warm in this cold winter. Here is what I will bring it to the Day-Shelter today. Not much but I hope it helps.
In den vergangenen Wochen ist es bitter Kalt bei uns. Bei unter -25 bis -30 Grad ist es einfach Ice-Bilder auf vielen unseren Fenstern zu sehen.Ein Bild von Heute Morgen war ausser genwöhndlich schön. Doch ein klarer Himmel mit Sonnenschein heisst es ist echt kalt.
Wir alle wissen, es gibt viele Leute da draußen, die kein zu Hause haben und es nicht so schön warm haben wie wir.
So dachte ich dass auch wir etwas tun können damit auch ander Menschen warm haben. Immer schön zu wissen das einige von uns Decken für Tages-Unterkünfte stricken, häckeln oder nähen. Hier ist eine Decke die ich gehäckelt habe. Nicht viel, aber ich hoffe es hilft jemanden.
Bear Cuddle-Iciuos Wrap is a amazingly big and bulky wrap. Winter-chill today I can honestly say! Today is the day to wear my wrap at a bitter cold -29 degrees weather and windchill. Burr… is what I say.
Well I decided to knit a second one, with my own “Knitswissyarns” I had bought several hanks of a really chunky undyed SW Merino weight yarn and some dye and off I went with my creative hand. Then the wait till it was dry. Knitting this one was just as nice as the first one. Now a very kind lady and her daughter can enjoy wearing it and keeping them warm too. Enjoy.

Snowshoeing for my first time this past weekend with my hubby and having a wonderful time together.
Tiffin Conservation Park is just about 20 minutes outside Barrie. Yes how could I not take my camera along… perfect day for lots of great pictures and spending time together. Treasured every moment of it…
We came across some wonderful ponds that have been frozen over. A father with is kids where playing hocky on the frozen part ..further down from them, where two ducks enjoying the open streams.
So in some of the pictures you can see they are taping the Maple trees already for the sugar run…nothing flowing yet…still to cold.
At one point we did wander off the main track>>> We have snowshoes so why stay on the track. Wooo…all I say to my hubby “Do you know what that could be?” Let’s go!!! I am not waiting around to see…but I had to take two quick pictures….you can tell me if you think the same as I do. Could this be a winter bear den, what do you think?

Later on as we moved on, we came across some really neat winter survival huts. I would guess they been put up by he staff working at Tiffin for the “Maple Syrup Festival”. Really cool, we just could not resist to try them out. Some where all covered up by snow which gives it more warmth I would think.
What a wonderful and happy Sunday I had with my hubby…looking forward to going soon again.
Gestern Sonntag bin ich mit meinem Mann das erste mal Schneeschuhwandern gegangen und hatten eine wunderbare Zeit zusammen.
“Tiffin Conservation Park” ist nur etwa 20 Minuten außerhalb von Barrie. Ja,natürlich konnte ich meine Kamera nicht zu hase lassen … ein perfekter Tag für viele tolle Bilder. Ich schätze doch jeden schönen genütlichen Moment mit meinem Ehemann verbringen zu können.

Wir stießen auf einige wunderbare Teiche an, die ein Teil zugefroren sind. Ein Vater war mit Kinder am hocky spielen. Etwas weiter unten von ihnen, wo das Wasser nur wenig floss waren zwei Enten die es auch genoßen hatten etwas Sonnenschein zu bekommen.
Triffen Conservation Park wird im April das ” Spring Tonic Maple Syrup Festival” haben. So in paar Bildern könnt Ihr sehen wie die Ahornbäume für den Zucker Lauf schon an geschlossen sind… doch fließt der Zuckersaft noch nicht… noch zu kalt.
Weiter ging es doch etwas weg von dem Huptweg.>>> Wir haben ja Schneeschuhe….Wooo … alles, was ich sagte zu meinem Mann war.” Weißt du, was das sein könnte?” Los weg von hier! Ich werde nicht warten, um zu sehen … aber ich musste zwei schnelle Fotos doch haben …. Du kanst mir sagen, wenn Du das gleiche denkst . Könnte dies ein Winter Bären Höhle sein, was denkst Du?
Späte, stießen wir auf einige wirklich interesante Winter Überlebenshütten. Ich würde vermuten, sie wurde von den Personal bei Tiffin für die ” Maple Syrup Festival” aufgebaut. Wirklich cool, wir konnten es einfach nicht lassen und mussten diese ausproieren…

A perfect get away for a weekend and the atmosphere is amazing with all the wonderful Restaurants and Bars.
An Icy Mess we could say. So many people without power and this after 5 days of frizzing cold temperature. Now overnight a good 5 to 10cm layer of snow on top of all this ice. More weight on the branches too…
I remember as a kid growing up back home. Our home is close to a train track and sometimes when we had an ice store and the train power lines where covers in ice. As a kid it was quite something to see the train go by then and all the sparks and crackles from the ice as the train went by. memories to keep….
Well yesterday morning the temperature measured MINUS 22 burrrrr!!!. Kind of unbelievable how solid the ice is on all the branches. But if you could feel the cold….
However this is a really nice time to go out and take lots of pictures. One does not get to have that many opportunities for this kind of sparkle and sunshine…unless you live in the Alps in Switzerland. Breathtaking views when the sun shines into the ice and snow.

Ich erinnere mich an meine Kinderzeit zuhause. Mein Elternhause ist in der Nähe einer Bahnstrecke und manchmal, wenn wir ein Eisregen hatten und die Stromleitungen der Bahn mit Eis bedeck waren. Wenn der Zug vorbei fuhr….das Funkeln uns Sparkel der Leitungen… Als Kind war es schon etwas zum sehen – Erinnerungen zum Behalten ….

Nun, gestern Morgen die Temperaturn waren bei uns MINUS 22 Burrrrr!. Unglaublich, wie dick das Eis ist auf alle Bäumen. Aber wenn man die Kälte fühlen ….dan ist es kein Wunder.
Doch trotzdem ist es eine schöne Zeit für Fotos. All das Glitzern wenn die Sonne in all das Eis scheint…So etwas sieht man nicht viel bei uns. Ja in den Alpen in der Schweiz kommt das schon öfters vor. Atemberaubende Ausblickten, wenn die Sonne in das Eis und und Schnee scheint.
So after a good three days of scrapping the cars, driveways and shoveling Ice!!!
Yes ICE not snow…and that a good layer of about 1.5″ to 2″ if not more and that just about EVERYWHERE you can think off….
For the past view days we had to remove a lot of ICE….everything is iced up. My truck was covered with at least 1″ of solid ice. Try to get that off and not work up some sore arms. The driveway, what a sheet of ice. If it would not be on a slight decline to the road we could have used it for an ice-rink.
I am sending you some of my pictures I took over the last view days. And since it will not go above freezing for a some days this ice cover is to stay for some time too. Just hope we do not get wind as the tree branches full of ice could break…fall on cars, power lines and so much more….Truly hope it will not come to that…Good to have a stash of Yarn…lol, Peanut Butter, Bread and water in the home just in case the power goes out.
So nach gut drei Tagen von Eisregen…

Das alles auf Autos, Bäume, Strassen und was sonst noch alles draussen steht!
In den letzten Tagen hatten wir eine Menge von ICE zum Entfernen …. alles vereist kann man hier sagen.
Mein Truck hatte eine Eisschicht von 4 bis 5cm. Da kommte man doch ins Schwitzen das weg zu Kratzen….Da brauchte man schon gute Arm Muskeln oder einen lieben Mann da gut mit helfen kann…
Unser Hausplatz, was für eine Eisschicht. Wenn der flach währe hätten für eine Eisbahn zum Schlittschuh fahren!
Hier ein paar Bilder von den letzen paar Tagen in unsere Gegend. Ja meine Bilder sind eigendlich recht schön von all den Bildern die Ihr in den Nachrichten zu sehen bekommt. Eis kann schon gefährlich sein wenn so ein Ast herunter kommt und auf die Stomleitungen oder Auto, Hause etc. fällt.
Alles ist vereist und wird so bleiben für etliche Tage das es in den Null Graden bleiben wird. Hoffe nur dass der Wind nicht kommt, da die Äste voller Eis brechen könnte und auf Autos, Stromleitungen und vieles mehr fallen könnte ( Wie in Toronto und Umgebung, Tausende sind ohne Strom) …. Wirklich hoffe, es wird nicht dazu kommen bei uns…
Gut, einen Vorrat an Wolle…(lach), Erdnussbutter, “Schoggi” Brot und Wasser in dem Haus für Notfälle zu haben.

Truly hade been busy knitting each one of them in a different colour pattern almost made it one a day.
Though it is the same pattern, well 15th of them are in the Pressed Rib Cap & Muffler pattern by Churchmouse for the boys. Another five hats where knit in the Rikke Hat pattern by Sarah Young for the girls.
All the hats are to be given to a shelter by a customer of ours. I truly was a great project to knit the for her…and the teenagers that will receive them.
I truly hope it will keep them warm and they too will like them as much as I enjoyed knitting them for them.

Ja, es drehts sich alles um die Hüttein diesem Monat …
Und das ganze 20 mal in allen. Ich glaube, ich habe genug im Moment von Mützen.
Fleissig gestrickt hatte ich, fast jeden Tag eine Mütze und sogar jeden in einem anderen Farbe Muster.
Obwohl es das gleiche Muster ist 15 davon sind in der Pressed Rib Cap & Muffler Muster von “Churchmouse” für die Knaben. Weitere fünf Hüte sind mit dem Muster Rikke Hat bei Sarah Young für die Mädchen gestrickt worden.
Die Mützen sind ein Geschenk für eine Jugend Horte. Den Auftrag bekam ich von einer Kundin die diese als Geschenk weiter leiten wird.
Ich hoffe wirklich, es wird alle schön warm halten und dass auch sie freude daran haben diese Mützen zu tragen.
Came together rather quickly…Craft Show was coming up and we had all this sparkly fun yarn just arriving at the store.

Eine Handarbeits Messe stand vor der Tür und wir hatten dieses tolle Garn gerade in Gescheschäft wo ich arbeite bekommen.
Die Einkaufszentre bei uns sind alle voll mit glitzerden Kleidungsstücke für diese Wintersaison.

Yes the winter is blowing in like it has not done in a while in our town. Every so lightly the flacks came down on Thursday evening…to bed we went and then the awakening to a mess on the roads.
Wile some of us did our “magic” at work, the roads got worse as the day went on. The best place to be on a day like this is truly your home.
Flights got cancelled, cars got stuck in the snow drifts. The kids had no school ….Just think how nice it would be to have had a long endless day of knitting!!!
Sunshine after the storm, Saturday February the 9th. well I hope to get some knitting done today …so have a look at the pictures and enjoy.

Ja, der Winter ist wie im nu Eingezogen das haben wir schon lange nicht mehr gesehen bei uns.
Leicht und luftig flogen die Schneeflocken am Donnerstag Abend … zu Bett gingen wir.
Doch das Erwachen zu Strassen die voll mit Schnee bedeckt waren.
So los zur Arbeit wo wir mit unseren Hände “magic” hinterlassen durften.
Die Straßen wurden immer schlimmer als der Freitag zu ende ging. Der beste Ort, an so einem Tag is halt immer das eigene Zuhause. Flüge wurden abgesagt, Autos sind stecken geblieben in der Schneemenge. Die Kinder hatten keine Schule ….
Denke nur, wie schön es wäre, eine lange große Tag mit Stricken zu verbringen! Sonnenschein nach dem Sturm, Samstag der 9. Februar, hoffe Heute etwas zum Stricken zu kommen.

With only 2 skeins of this “Noro Taiyo Sock” yarn….about 924 yarns or 845 meters that gave e a nice comfortable length…I use a 4mm hook size but one could use a bigger hook too and the end result would be much lighter and looser in the chain….fun too…never not try new thing. Be unique and have fun playing with your needle or hook size…you never know what will happen …amazing results I promise You.
I enjoy knitting or crocheting with all NORO YARNS….just so much fun the colours just come together in sooo many fun ways…never the same …you always will have a one of a kind creation…every time…so let start with this one…
Wunderbarer Gehäkelter Schal
Mit nur 2 Stränge von “Noro Taiyo Sock” etwa 845 Meter Luaflänge. Ich benutze eine 4mm Hakelgröße aber man könnte einen größeres Häkel auch dazu benützen und das Endergebnis würde viel leichter und lockerer in der Masche sein … Spaß sollte man ja auch haben dabei und immer lust auf etwas Neues zu haben… Tolle Muster können da entstehen.
Schau nur die Farben an so Spielend ….gar nicht langweilig zum Stricken. Jeder Schal gestrickt mit Noro ist ein einzig artiges Werk.
What a fantastic shawl this is ….ohh I know it does take a full 7 skeins of Blue Sky Alpaca Silk about 1022 yards or 940 meters of this yarn. And yes you are using a smaller needle like 3.75mm but it is sooo worth knitting this one up….Pattern is also from Blue Sky Aplaca
You will truly love knitting this one “Rectangle Shawl by Kim Hamlin ….this one could be your next shawl for a special event you are going too…so do not wait to long to knit this one up….have some fun.
