Oh no, how time has gone by since my last post.

I kind of got side tracked by posting on Facebook. How could I, you may ask? Well it seems to be much easier to do that with my phone.

Yes, I know I can do blog-posts on the phone too. But it seem to be a little more tedious for someone like me that is not so computer oriented. LOL

So we all had the Fall season come and go… see some of my pictures from the fall.

Well guess what, we had minus 17 on November 22nd. A brisk walk through the local park that morning and again at night, so beautiful.

Then some more snow here and there…gurr with rain right after that.

All snow gone again. What? You say we are in winter? Normal we would be into deep winter with Christmas just past, Guess again!!! Yesterday was December 28th. A usually very cold winter day here in Canada. ..BUT not yesterday!

Believe it or not we had a temperature of “+11” .Yes plus 11 degrees. People where walking around in short sleeves… (not me).Don’t think it have seen that before in my 34 years here in Canada!

So today I woke up to – 9, ladida yes minus 9. very drastic change in temperature. I am So glad we can’t change the weather.

Enjoy the last view days of 2018 and many thanks for stopping by here on my Blog during the past years. I truly hope to be more active in the New Year.

What am I talking about? You may ask your self…..well it is that the original pattern …

yes a knitting pattern smiles….

“The Joker and the Thief ” is all worked up with many fun and wonderful colours ,gorgeous for sure.

Leave it up to me though,I wanted to see how this pattern by Melanie Berg would look in just one colour. My KnitSwissYarns Fingering Merino Silk I used for this pattern is a very light tone on tone and in the right light will have a hint of purple, though the may colour is dark gray.

Loved the pattern and the distinct row of the 8 stitches add a definite interest to this shawl design. I truly enjoyed knitting this shawl up for my friends Ursi back home…..we enjoyed a truly fun time together in September on our Rhein River holiday.

What to do on a rainy day?

Well it truly has been a long time since we had a good rain here in the Upper York Region of Ontario. I have enjoyed the hot summer so far, but some rain is definitely welcomed today.

So home I was and normally I would do my everyday stuff and once that is done I do enjoy some knitting. But today I thought lets change this up and sewing away.

Yesterday at my workplace “The Quilt Store” I could not resist buying one of the panels I sold to a customer. Just have to make one too. Soooo sweet and great for both bay or girl.

Fabric by : Northcott Fabrics “A Little Birdie Told Me” But wait I already have all this christmas prints at home. Got to finish this one too. Was macht man an einem regnerischen Tag? Nun, es ist sicher schon lange her seit es bei uns geregnet hat hier in Upper York Region von Ontario. Obwohl ich den heißen Sommer bisher geniesse, aber etwas Regen wird auf jeden Fall heute begrüßt.

Normaly würde ich meine alltäglichen Dinge zuerst fertig bringen und dann geht es los mit dem Stricken….Lach kann nicht nur herum hocken und nichts machen…

Heute dachte ich jetzt wird genäht. Konnte es nicht unterlassen selber auch ein Pannel von den herzigen Kinderstoff zu kaufen den ich einer Kundin empfohlen hatte beim “The Quilt Store”. Aber warte Ich habe ja auch noch Weihnachts Stoff gekauft den ich schon etwas zusammen genäht habe….loss gehts heute weiter nähen….

Glistening Sunshine in the Big Icy Mess

An Icy Mess we could say. So many people without power and this after 5 days of frizzing cold temperature. Now overnight a good 5 to 10cm layer of snow on top of all this ice. More weight on the branches too…

I remember as a kid growing up back home. Our home is close to a train track and sometimes when we had an ice store and the train power lines where covers in ice. As a kid it was quite something to see the train go by then and all the sparks and crackles from the ice as the train went by. memories to keep….

Well yesterday morning the temperature measured MINUS 22 burrrrr!!!. Kind of unbelievable how solid the ice is on all the branches. But if you could feel the cold….

However this is a really nice time to go out and take lots of pictures. One does not get to have that many opportunities for this kind of sparkle and sunshine…unless you live in the Alps in Switzerland. Breathtaking views when the sun shines into the ice and snow.

Ein eisige Wueste könnten wir sagen. So viele Menschen ohne Strom, und dies nach 5 Tagen ice kalten Temperaturen. Über Nacht dazu noch gute 5 bis 10 cm Neuschnee. Mehr Gewicht auf die Zweige …

Ich erinnere mich an meine Kinderzeit zuhause. Mein Elternhause ist in der Nähe einer Bahnstrecke und manchmal, wenn wir ein Eisregen hatten und die Stromleitungen der Bahn mit Eis bedeck waren. Wenn der Zug vorbei fuhr….das Funkeln uns Sparkel der Leitungen… Als Kind war es schon etwas zum sehen – Erinnerungen zum Behalten ….

Nun, gestern Morgen die Temperaturn waren bei uns MINUS 22 Burrrrr!. Unglaublich, wie dick das Eis ist auf alle Bäumen. Aber wenn man die Kälte fühlen ….dan ist es kein Wunder.

Doch trotzdem ist es eine schöne Zeit für Fotos. All das Glitzern wenn die Sonne in all das Eis scheint…So etwas sieht man nicht viel bei uns. Ja in den Alpen in der Schweiz kommt das schon öfters vor. Atemberaubende Ausblickten, wenn die Sonne in das Eis und und Schnee scheint.

Rag Christmas Stocking

Ok I know for a change I am not having my knitting needles in my hands….smile you think. I thought I will show you all something different. I am really big into knitting you all know that if you have followed my blog.

But I do work in a Quilt and Yarn Store…so that means we really work with fabric and yarn all the time and I truly love being surrounded with all this Yarn and Fabric and all our customers. If I can help them and get a smile back from them that is what keeps me smiling.

So decided to sew a Rag Christmas Stocking …no pattern just sew as you go…lots of fun then cut, cut and more cut. Wash and voila all done to the point where I made a second one…just loving them. My hubby was pretty impressed if I may so

the top stocking has been felted already the bottom one I still need to cut all the edges too and put in wash machine to felt the edges too.

Ich liebe es wirklich mit all der Wolle und Stoffen Täglich umramt zu sein und alle unsere Kunden helfen zu dürfen. Wenn ich ihnen helfen kann und da auch ab und zu ein Lächeln zurück zu mir kommt das macht mich Happy.

So ohne Muster ging es einfach loss. Stoff schneiden, dann Naehen und nochmals alles schneiden dann ab in die Waschmaschiene zum filtzen…und voila die Weihnachts Finken geffallen mir recht gut. Sogar mein Mann war imponiert das ich die so schnell hergezaubert hatte….wennn ich das sagen darf.

Yes it is all about the HATS this month…

And that times 20 in all. I think I am all done for now.

Truly hade been busy knitting each one of them in a different colour pattern almost made it one a day.

Though it is the same pattern, well 15th of them are in the Pressed Rib Cap & Muffler pattern by Churchmouse for the boys. Another five hats where knit in the Rikke Hat pattern by Sarah Young for the girls.

All the hats are to be given to a shelter by a customer of ours. I truly was a great project to knit the for her…and the teenagers that will receive them.

I truly hope it will keep them warm and they too will like them as much as I enjoyed knitting them for them.

Say warm and well.

Ja, es drehts sich alles um die Hütte in diesem Monat …

Und das ganze 20 mal in allen. Ich glaube, ich habe genug im Moment von Mützen.

Fleissig gestrickt hatte ich, fast jeden Tag eine Mütze und sogar jeden in einem anderen Farbe Muster.

Obwohl es das gleiche Muster ist 15 davon sind in der Pressed Rib Cap & Muffler Muster von “Churchmouse” für die Knaben. Weitere fünf Hüte sind mit dem Muster Rikke Hat bei Sarah Young für die Mädchen gestrickt worden.

Die Mützen sind ein Geschenk für eine Jugend Horte. Den Auftrag bekam ich von einer Kundin die diese als Geschenk weiter leiten wird.

Ich hoffe wirklich, es wird alle schön warm halten und dass auch sie freude daran haben diese Mützen zu tragen.

What a fantastic shawl this is ….ohh I know it does take a full 7 skeins of Blue Sky Alpaca Silk about 1022 yards or 940 meters of this yarn. And yes you are using a smaller needle like 3.75mm but it is sooo worth knitting this one up….Pattern is also from Blue Sky Aplaca

You will truly love knitting this one “Rectangle Shawl by Kim Hamlin ….this one could be your next shawl for a special event you are going too…so do not wait to long to knit this one up….have some fun.

Together with a former co-worker we knit this one up in a jiffy…and it looks just perfect.

Was für eine fantastische Schal…. ohh ja ich weiß, es braucht volle 7 Stränge von “Blue Sky Alpaca Silk” so etwa 940 Meter davon. Muster ist auch von Blue Sky Alpaca

Und mit einer feineren Nadel wie 3.75mm doch es lohnt sich dieser Schal zu stricken….

Da bin ich sicher er wir auch Dir gefallen”Rectangle Shawl” von Kim Hamlin …. der Schal wir perfect sein für den nächsten Anlass … so warte nicht zu lange damit auch Du ihn ausführen kanst…

Zusammen mit einer ehemaliger Mitarbeiterin habe ich diesen im Handumdrehen fertig gestricket…

Yeh one more pattern that is my own…

Well if you know me I have a lot of my clothes knit from pattern I find on Ravelry or knitting magazines and a lot of them I modified to my liking…adding a frill here or there. Making the sleeves longer, shorter or wider. It’s like my knitting is getting a Nip & Tuck here and there…perhaps you know what I am talking about.

You could also say it I play with the patterns and have fun with them too…

and YES I WEAR MY KNITS almost every day…

my friend will tell you that too…LOL.

Manchen Ärmel werden länger, kürzer oder breiter , eine Rüschchen da oder dort wie solle es auch anders.

Is this fun knit shawl by Jocelyn Tunney you can find it under http://www.ravelry.com/patterns/library/aethercopter .

I enjoyed knitting this shawl for Unwind Yarn House, it has a unique way of knitting it up. You knit the border first, see that here in my picture.

Then you pick up stitches all along the border that you fold in half and then you knit the body to this shawl. I used two size needles for this 4.5mm and 5.5mm and a yarn called “O-Wool Balance a total of 5 skeins=650 yards or 594 meters

So viel Spaß gibt dieser Schal zum stricken entworfen ist der bei “Jocelyn Tunney”. Du kanst den Schal unter http://www.ravelry.com/patterns/library/aethercopter finden.

Ich genoss diesen Schal zu stricken für Unwind Yarn House. Auf eine einzigartige Art und Weise wird dieser gestrickt. Zunächst wird der Rand gestrickt wie ich dass oben in mein Bilder Euch zeigen kann.

Dann wird am Rande, der halb in der Mitte gefalten wird, Maschen aufgefasst und der Schal wird dann weiter gestrick .

Ich habe zwei Größen von Nadeln 4,5 mm und 5,5 mm benutzt.

Das Garn genannt “O-Wool Balance” insgesamt 5 Knäuel = 650 Meter oder 594 Meter waren gerade genug.

Shale Pleated Scarf

Ok this time I have knit a scarf for my husband to keep him nice and warm in the winter months. The yarn I used for this scarf is Malabrigo Yarn Merino Worsted in Stone Blue 99. Knit with a size 5mm needle and two skeins measures this scarf 142cm in length and 18cm wide. A very soft and wonderful yarn to knit this pattern from Kisten Hipsky available for free on www.ravelry.com . Perfect to wrap around the neck once and not to long for under a dress coat.

I am also showing You a second scarf in the same pattern, but with”Cascade Yarns 220 Wool” also in blue.

Cast on 38 stitches for this scarf using 2 skeins so not as wide as the first one, but nice for a gift.

Entlich einmal etwas gestricktes für meinen lieben Mann. Ein Schal habe ich für ihn fertig gestrickt für die kalten Winter Monate gestrickte. Dazu habe ich die Malabrigo Yarn Merino Worsted in Stein Blau 99 benutzt. Mit Nadle Grösse 5mm und zwei Kneuel, ist dieser Schal ganze 142cm lang und 18cm breit. Sehr weich und wunderbar warm gerade richtig einmal um den Hals reichend unter seinem Winter Mantel zu tragen können. Das Muster ist von Kirsten Hipsky an www.ravelry.com gratis zu finden.

Auch zeige ich Euch ein zweiter Schal im gleichen Muster nur habe ich dabei nur 38 Maschen angeschlagen.

Mit”Cascade Yarns 220 Wolle” und auch in Blau mit zwei Stangen ist der auch recht schön geworden für ein Geschenk.

White And Fluffy Snow

Look at the snow we have in our backyard….not as much as London, Ontario up to one meter in one week….I remeber those times in London and in Gstaad, Switzerland…..but the mountains ohh they are not here…. I hear Europe such as Paris and London aswell as Geneva Switzerland did have a lot of that white stuff too.

It has been snowing on and off for the pasted week….it looks so pretty…but the shoveling has to be done too and next to this my knitting projects have to be finished too…So I am keeping this short this time…Have a nice and peaceful weekend…

Schaut wie viel Schnee wir in unserm Garten haben….nicht so viel wie London, Onatrio sie haben bis zu einem Meter Schnee währent einer Woche bekommen. Ich erinnnere mich an diese Zeiten in London und in Gstaad. Doch die Bergen sind nicht bei mir….. Ich sehe auch in Europa wie Paris, London oder Genf in der Schweiz haben viel von dem Weissen bekommen.

Doch das Schnee schaufeln muss gemacht werden und ich habe noch etliches an Strickarbeiten zum Erledigen….so ich mach es diesmal kurz….doch wünsche ich Euch Allen ein frohes gemühtliches Wochenende
