Glad I am here to make a difference

I wake up in the morning and go to bed at night…..all through my day I truly try my very best to make a difference in some once life. I know this is not always easy or noticed by others. I get it.

But here is a little story of “my rewards” to my day yesterday at work.

An elderly lady came to the store where I work. I had never seen her before. But she ask if someone could help her. I ask if she could tell me more. On she went on telling me she learned all on her own how to do “Cables” but this had been a while ago and she was not sure anymore if she was doing it correct.

Ahhh a knitting question, Great I knew I could help her. So she showed me the project she started. It was perfect!!! She can still do the cables….She was so happy to hear that.

She thought she now had to buy some yarn from us now because I helped her.

Her and her husband really like the colour “Gray” and she wanted to knit him a scarf but unfortunately do to the sale we have had only 3 skeins of a gray yarn left but not in the weight she was looking for. Gray always goes the first with naturals, white and blacks.

She was soooo upset and ask if I would be mad with her if she would not buy any yarn this time? But she for sure will be back to buy from (me) the store again. How could I tell he I was mad with her. Never in a million years would I have told her that! As I really only want to help her no matter if she bought yarn from us or not!

She gave me this great big hug and told me she will be back!

My believes are

“If you give a little Help, Care, and Understanding you get sooo much more in return back”

maybe not right away but customers like that will remember You “Me”

“I know I make a Difference”

And You can too.

My Orange Shades of Gray

Well I can’t knit this cowl just in gray!

I had to go with some other colour to show you have easy and simple this one is to knit.

Same pattern as “My3 Shades Of Gray” but for this one I only cast on 160 stitches. It does go around my neck two times. Fantastic …love wearing it. The yarn is fun and still warm to wear, super easy and fast to knit up…a TV night night knit If you like.

Only used one skein of Sirdar Divine and a 5mm needle that is all….voila all done.

Man Hat

“Man Hat”

as it is called…well I have added a PomPom but you can leave it off and then it would be perfect for your Man. The pattern is really wonderful and great for so many yarns.

This Man Hat by Haven Leavitt is available for free on Ravelry.

I used US 8 – 5 mm needle and yes a discontinued yarn from Cascade Yarns “Jewel” Hand Dyed with 129 meters (142 Yards) one skein was enough gorgeous blue tone one tone colour.

“Mann-Hut”

ist das Muster genannt … nur habe ich eine PomPom hinzugefügt, kann aber auch ohne PomPom sein. Das Muster ist jedoch wirklich wunderbar und großartig für so viele Wollen.

Dieser Mann-Hut von Haven Leavitt ist auf Ravelry kostenlos zur Verfügung.

Mit US 8 oder 5 mm Nadelstärke ging es los. Leider ist diese Wolle abgesetzt worden von Cascade Yarns “Jewel” Handgefärbt mit 129 Meter ein Knäuel war genug dazu und ein wunderschöner blauen Ton dazu auch noch.

Indian Summer

Well truly I prefer to see them on the tree….but the time is here again and we need to get ready for the winter.

I know, I should be raking all these leaves up….but it looks so nice right now. A view more days as the trees in all the neighbour backyards are just starting to lose the leaves.

Perhaps tomorrow I will go and take my rake in my hands.

As to soon this will all be white with frost and yes snow. Not sure I am looking forward to this yet.

Lieber sehen ich die Blätter an den Bäumen …. aber die Zeit ist wieder da, und wir müssen aufreumen da der Winter schon bald vor der Tür sein wird.

Ich weiß, ich sollte all diese Blätter rechen gehen…. aber es sieht so schön aus im Moment. Noch ein paar Tage denke ich, da die Bäume in allen Nachbarhinterhöfen erst die Blätter verlieren.

Vielleicht werde ich morgen den Rechen in meinen Händen nehmen.

Wie bald wird dies alles weiß mit Frost und Schnee ja sein. Im Moment gefällt es mir aber besse so.

Suits Me Fine Quilt

When Adrienne my co-worker was designing and piecing this “Suits Me Fine” quilt last year I know I had to make one for myself too. Shortly after she finished her quilt, the store put it together for a quilt kit I believe for last years Creative Festival Fall 2013 . Several of us bought one each and here I am …loving it. Especially with the minky backing…sooo soft.

My winter can come now. But not so fast please. I enjoy this Fall Season too.

This is my third quilt (not including the rag-Quilts) I pieced together and quilted on my friends long-arm quilting machine. Really nice to have a girlfriend that lets me use her special long-arm machine and the best thing is she too is from Switzerland so we even can chat in our “Schwiitzerduetsch”

Adrianne, meine Arbeits Kollegin etworf disen Quilt letztes Jahr. Als Sie diesen Quilt zusammen nähte, wusste ich dass auch ich diese Patchwork Decke nähen wollte. Kurz nachdem sie ihren Quilt fertig hatte, kam es auch schon dazu dass das Geschäft eine Quilt-Kit dafür zusammen stellte und wenn ich mich recht erinnere sogar für die Kreativ-Herbstmesse 2013.

Einige von uns (Kolleginnen ) gekauft je ein “Kit” und hier bin ich meine Decke ist sooo weich mit dem “Minky”. Stoff für den Hinterteil . Mein Winter kann jetzt kommen. Aber nicht so schnell bitte, ich genieße diese Herbst-Saison.

Dies ist mein dritter Quilt (nicht einbezogen sind die Rag-Quilts)den ich selber genäht habe und gesteppt bei meine Freundins Langarm-Steppmaschine. Echt schön so eine Freundin zu haben die sogar auch noch von der Schweiz ist ,so können wir auch Schwiizerduetsch plaudere.

Frist I have to apologise to all of You

For only writing in English for the past view blog entries.

I was on a mission and needed to get the blog entries up online before time moved on as it was in regards to the Shows we just had.

Next to all the knitting, working, sleeping and my own Families needs too.

So heir I am back with German entries too….

Zuerest muss ich mich bei Euch Allen Entschuldigen

Dass ich die letzten paar Blog Eintragungen nur in Englisch geschrieben hatte.

Meine Zeit was kurzt und ich wollte diese Eintragungen im Blog haben before zu viel Zeit verging.

Da es ja von der Messe war wo wir auch einen grossen Stand hatten.

Neben bei hatte ich ja auch immer noch das Stricken(ja für das Geschäft), arbeiten gehen, schlafen und natürlich auch noch meine liebe Familie die mich auch brauchte….

So hier bin ich also wieder auch auf Deutsch wir wieder geschrieben.

A New Look

Feather Duster Shawl

Well I finished knitting this shawl before Christmas for ” Unwind Yarn House” yarn sample. This was a very fast knit and very easy great for someone with little experience in triangular shawl patterns. The “Feather Duster” Shawl pattern is by Susan Lawrence the yarn I have knit this wonderful shawl in, is ” Dye-Version Bamboo Fingering ” used 1 skeins = 386.0 yards (353.cm)in royal blue and knit with needle 4.5mm. If you like to knit this bigger then use 2 skeins.

I believe Wendy will take this one along to the “Vogue Knitting Life Show” coming up the end of the month in New York City too. She should have a great booth if any of you are close to see this. It would be nice to see some pictures if any of you are lucky enough to attend this show.

Nun, dieses Tuch habe ich vor Weihnachten für “Unwind Yarn House” Garn Muster für den Wolladen fertig gestrickt . Dies war eine sehr schnelles und sehr einfaches Muster. Ein gutes Muster für jemanden mit wenig Erfahrung in Dreieck-Tuch Muster. Dieses ” Feather Duster” Schal Muster ist von Susan Lawrence. Das Garn mit dem ich dieses wunderbaren Tuch gestrickt hatte, ist “Dye-Version Bamboo Fingern” mit nur 1 Knäuel = 386,0 Yards (353.cm) in Königsblau und gestrickt mit Nadel 4,5 mm. Für ein grösseres Tuch würde ich zwei Stangen entfehlen.

Ich glaube, Wendy wird dieses Tuch auch zu der “Vogue Knitting Life Show” ende diesen Monat in New York City mitnehmen. Sie soll einen großen Stand haben in der Show. Wenn jemand von Euch in der Nähe ist und das Glück hat, diese Show zu Besuchen, wäre es schön, einige Bilder zu sehen von dem Stand etc.

Cerus Scarf

So I just had to knit this one scarf for my husband too. This one is not so thick and looks like it has been woven rather then knit… I like it too, the look is more like an executive scarf under a business coat. Like one you would buy in a store. Still soft and I hope it will keep him warm to on the drive to work…This scarf too is from the www.raverly.com site available for download by Hilary Smith Callis. For this one I used a yarn called “Sweetgeorgia” Hand Painted Yarns.

The callculations and gauge would be: 28sts will give me 4inches on a 3.5mm needle…so I am cast 355stitches on… using one skein and the finished measurements are 52inches (122cm)long and 6.5 inches (16cm) wide. This is a fun pattern…
I love the colours in this scarf and how they flow into each other. I hope it will get lots of wear and will kepp him warm too…

So ein zweiter Schal für meinen Mann. Dieser schal ist nicht so dick und sieht aus wie gewoben, anstatt gestrickt … Passed gut unter einem Business-Mantel. Wie von einem Geschäft kaufen, doch weich und ich hoffe, es hält ihn warm auf der Fahrt zur Arbeit … Dieser Schal ist auch von der Website www.raverly.com zur Verfügung von Hilary Smith Callis. Für diesen Schal habe ich ein Garn “Sweetgeorgia” handbemalt Garne benutzt.

Die Massen dazu habe ich so bestimmt: 28 Maschen gibt mir 10 cm mit einer 3,5 mm Nadel … so habe ich 355 Maschen aufgefasst. Eine Strang Wolle und das fertige Mass ist 122 cm lang und 16 cm breit. Ein interresantes Muster …
Mir gefallen die Farben in dieser Schal und wie sie ineinander fließen.

Shale Pleated Scarf

Ok this time I have knit a scarf for my husband to keep him nice and warm in the winter months. The yarn I used for this scarf is Malabrigo Yarn Merino Worsted in Stone Blue 99. Knit with a size 5mm needle and two skeins measures this scarf 142cm in length and 18cm wide. A very soft and wonderful yarn to knit this pattern from Kisten Hipsky available for free on www.ravelry.com . Perfect to wrap around the neck once and not to long for under a dress coat.

I am also showing You a second scarf in the same pattern, but with”Cascade Yarns 220 Wool” also in blue.

Cast on 38 stitches for this scarf using 2 skeins so not as wide as the first one, but nice for a gift.

Entlich einmal etwas gestricktes für meinen lieben Mann. Ein Schal habe ich für ihn fertig gestrickt für die kalten Winter Monate gestrickte. Dazu habe ich die Malabrigo Yarn Merino Worsted in Stein Blau 99 benutzt. Mit Nadle Grösse 5mm und zwei Kneuel, ist dieser Schal ganze 142cm lang und 18cm breit. Sehr weich und wunderbar warm gerade richtig einmal um den Hals reichend unter seinem Winter Mantel zu tragen können. Das Muster ist von Kirsten Hipsky an www.ravelry.com gratis zu finden.
