Child Sweater

Love how this sweater turned out. I am blessed to have had this order from a grandma to knit this sweater for her grandson.

It always is special to see that at times people do reach out fro handmade items. I n my case it is handknit with my love for the passion of joy and happiness in my knitting this special gift for her grandson.

A pattern I had from a Magazine called Penguin from many years ago…

Darling Of A Dress

Darling Of A Dress

Yes Darling of a Dress one could say …I think this one gave me the most trouble in a while. To the point where I knit it twice.

First one in fingering weight it is to fit a 2 to 3 year old… brought it to work. Some said that is more for at 18 month old… Ohhhhh noo.

So off to the dying pot to make same colour in Dk weight and start over again.. Lol so I thought great I’ll have it knit up in no time…

Except…. something just did not work out well. tTe sleeves just did not fit in with the arm opening. Opening was to big and yes that in both dresses… Yuck what am I doing wrong was my question. I just could not concentrate on this one… something is not going well.

Have you ever thought… Nooo what is going on with me? why am I not getting this..

Well honestly so far this has not happen to me many times in my knitting lifetime lol.

So I looked at the written pattern and the chart…OHHHHHHH NOOOOO this is not the same..

Time to modified the arms and made it work.

Now for the pattern, it really is a beautiful dress and I love knitting Drops Designs pattern. Never really had a problem with them. But this one I am so glad it is done.

Needles At Work

….after some time not really having my knitting needles in my hand …. Just not sure why that happen. But for past 6 months I have kind of lost my desire for knitting.

Have You ever felt like that? You have a hobby that is your passion, all of a sudden You have no interest in it anymore?

Some of You may say ….Oh no! This is unheard off. My knitting has been part of my daily life.

Well I think this little poncho request has brought back some nice memories of knitting. And how good it feels to be creating something handmade.

Flower Power Coat

Truly happy and loving  this “Flower Power” Coat

IMG_5798

Coat is finally finished.  Smiles, it only took me 4 summers to knit up.

Wow… You may say, but being fingering weight, needles 2.25 mm and in a black as you can see for most of the knitting. I really needed good lighting and the best was, sunlight outside in my backyard. Then the challenge of cutting the front open, something we knitters call “Steeking” and picking up stitches to bind  the front edge…woha, a little nerve-racking. Only because I already invested that many year of knitting into the coat. Really did not want to muck this part up…Yes perfect all great.

You can see the inside of the coat is just a beautiful as the ousie..smile.

The pattern and yarn are from Christel Seyfarth Shetland Lambswool she has some stunning and beautiful designs.

As I have shortened this jacket I had to modify some areas. So it is not true version of her coat. Therefore I have lots of yarn left. for some other project. Then I still have  a foul box of her yarn for another coat of shawl..

FlexiFlips Knitting Needles

File 2018-01-16, 4 33 20 PMHave you heard of these new needles..

“FlexiFlips!

Well not so new I believe. One of my customers from work has ask my over two years ago if we sell knitting needles that bend in the centre and you only work with 3 needles she said…and if I have knit with them yet…?File 2018-01-16, 6 22 18 PM

Unfortunately at that time I had to say “NO” to both of her question….smiles, this would not be the case today.

As of today I own a set on my own. Today I bought a 2,5mm FlexiFlips needle from Serenity Knits See what I have worked up so far the cuff of two socks…The ladies indicated it is just like knitting with straight needles. Agree, but really short straight needles. I think this would be perfect for a project on a plane where one has to make sure your not poking the person beside you..smiles.

My thoughts are; my absolute favorite needle to knit socks would be the magic loop then comes the FlexiFlips and my least favourite one would be working with 4 or 5 double-pointed needles.

The FlexiFlips are truly a great solution if you not a fan of the magic loop. Great to put the knitting down too and not having to worry of loosing stitches , though keep an eye on that 3rd needle ..smiles. I was knitting away ……and being used to knitting with my magic loop let go of the needle at the end of the row to flip to other side….well that was my 3rd needle now hahah for me the needle ended up on the floor….just something to be aware off.

So far I like the FlexiFlips though…

Tint Of Autum On The Rhein River

IMG_9963Tint Of Autum is the perfect memory of this wonderful time in Europe.

I was so excited to be able to go on a holiday to Europe this past Fall 2017 a cruise

from Basel to Amsterdam on The Rhein River.

“So Beautiful and Memorys to keep”

“Spending time with my mom back home in Switzerland and with great friends….”

Exiting part of this trip was the Ms. Excellence Allegra our Ship stopped in Amsterdam….yessss guess who has a store there? Stephen West and Penelope…I just had to visit this store! We bought yarn and some stitch markers with…

Oh yes bicycle theme. So cool

File 2017-12-14, 12 02 57 PMReni my girlfriend was totally on board to find this store too. Though she doesn’t knit much she still bought yarn so this is where I came into play….happily I have to say

She fell in love with this Malabrigo Rios yarn, (Smiles I think it was the colour that she had to have)  in Amsterdam at Stephen and Penelope’s Store. See more info here for Tints Of Autum Pattern

Coffee Shop Wrap

IMG_6172_medium2The colours in this wrap are just perfect for this pattern and guess what I used up all kinds of my left-over scarp yarns…well not really scrap yarn as it is all so wonderful and we never have scrap yarn if you are thinking like me…IMG_6142_medium2

I always tend to think what can I make with this little bit of yarn before I go to my perfectly full skeins that are just waiting to be use for

“THAT PERFECT PROJECT”

So if you are like me then you saved up many  PERFECTLY amazing yarn and use up the left-over yarns… smiles ….

I did say that I am not going to able to knit up all this yarn and wear it before I am not here anymore….well I decided to start using my So Amazing yarns and knit up something gorgeous. Even If I have to give it to an appreciating person that would wear it….so ok enough of this chabbering…lets get knitting… and designing my next project for January issue….off to work I go.

But here is the info for this fun wrap ….totally love it.

Coffee Shop Wrap by Alexandra Tavel

and the yarn is the best I have to say …smiles my own KnitSwissYarns and all in  Fingering 100% Superwash Merino Wool as I said all bits and pices …and needle size 4mm just really love that lose drap to the wrap.

My kind of “The Joker and the Thief”

Photo 2017-11-04, 3 12 46 PMWhat am I talking about? You may ask your self…..well it is that the original pattern …

yes a knitting pattern smiles….

“The Joker and the Thief ” is all worked up with many fun and wonderful colours ,gorgeous for sure.

Leave it up to me though,I wanted to see how this pattern by Melanie Berg would look in just one colour. My KnitSwissYarns Fingering Merino Silk I used for this pattern is a very light tone on tone and in the right light will have a hint of purple, though the may colour is dark gray. IMG_9956

Loved the pattern and the distinct row of the 8 stitches add a definite interest to this shawl design. I truly enjoyed knitting this shawl up for my friends Ursi back home…..we enjoyed a truly fun time together in September on our Rhein River holiday.
