Beautiful Fall Season

Summer has come and gone again…

Many days during the fall season I have gone for short walks. Well at first I just drove with my truck to wherever it took me. Stopped wherever I felt like it.

Not sure if you ever do that?

But it totally feels good, to just go explore the surrounding places. I have come across so many beautiful spots. It’s mind blowing a little how many times I come across wildlife too. That I would not see otherwise.

Just not to long ago I was able to see a fox just so at peace in my present. I have absolutely never seen anything so beautiful. He never even noticed I was there. You can see this fox in one of my pictures below.

Fall Is Coming

Fall is almost here and with that I ask what do I do now… Getting lots of suggestions… like Snowboarding, hiking, and curling. All sound wonderful.

One thing I have decided is … I’ll be teaching a class at my work …

Since I learn to sail and I can honestly say, Sailing me ? that I thought I’ll never do ….I believe I can do the teaching in sewing a rug together too…. Since I have already done 2 and made even bags from them.

My thoughts also go to learning another language… like Spanish. We have lots of friends I believe that can chat with me in Spanish… right Celilia, Isabelle, Monika, I am sure there are a view more that I am missing here…

hola,como estas? Estoy bien.

Yes I know there is that wiggle I need to figure out how to get that on my keyboard…I know there is a way to do that but forgot what tap I have to push… something about hold down the “o” lol

Perfect Water Droplets

img_4971Probably one of the last nice hot summer evenings outside in my backyard with +28.

Cut the grass put water on some plants. Even racked up the dead grass.

So now enjoying a peaceful evening with a glass of wine and looking for some great pictures.

I have one for sure I absolutely love water droplets on plants. But what about mushrooms growing on a log? Or even a plant we call clover that we don’t need I. The grass or garden. Beautiful too

Have a wonderful evening

Dehydrated Tomates

IMG_4571

Love the rich red colour of these tomatoes.

It is all around us right now the ripe fruits and vegetables are an indication of the end of summer season.  Apples, peaches, pears, corn, cabbages and yes tomatoes.

I am luck to have this Holland Marsh  wetland close by well about 20 minutes driving distance from my home.  As per their website “Produce selections range from more traditional crops such as carrots, onions and celery, to more diverse options like Chinese broccoli, Asian radish, and water spinach”.  So a lot of the vegetables I believe are coming from there to our local store that I have right around my home.

I also have a knitting / sewing friend that grows carrots and onions right in Holland Marsh. Luck for me I have been getting a bag here and their from her and her husband. With the onions  I make this amazing yummy onion soup. Carrots are great for carrot cake or soup too.

So since yesterday I have been dehydrating 3 baskets full of tomatoes so my hubby can take them on his up-coming hike to  Munising Falls Michigan (Pictured Rocks) with his hiking friends.

Have a great September to all of you.

I may have to do the same with apples soon

Mushrooms After Storm

IMG_9888After we had a nice view days doing things around the house over the Labour Day Weekend…part of hurricane Harvey must have made its way up to us …with rain and Thunder. So the grounds are all wet this Tuesday Morning.  A perfect day to doing some more cleaning I thought and getting ready for the colder season again.

So as I am waiting for the water to drain from Hot Tub ….I noticed a cluster of beautiful Mushrooms had grown on our front walk way…so delicate and pretty.

IMG_9894

See how only 20 minutes of lighting makes a difference in the picture ….and one hour later they are all drying up and shriveled up looking…..I guess by noon they are gone again…

So two hours have past since I started this post ….and you should see how black the sky is right now…..lol I am getting soaked by rain and hail….

Yehh ALL Quilted

2017-01-27-08-54-28As promised here is the picture of my fished

“Log Cabin Quilt”

All done in light, medium and dark Orange Cotton Fabric and light, medium and dark gray Cotton fabric.

See previous post on this Log Cabin Quilt here!

Love, Love, Love these colours!!!

For the back I used this black soft and heavy Sued Minky  fabric we have at the moment at The Quilt Store  Sooo soft and cuddly great for any winter!

I free motion quilted this Queen Size 90″x 91″on the HQ Fusion at the store too … It is amazing what all the longarm machines can do when you program the patterns into them and have IT do the quilting. However, I myself like to work it in free motion so it is truly all done by my hands….well just not “hand sewn” I know ….smiles enjoy  ahh and as for the binding. That is my absolute favourite last thing on the Quilt …Really like sewing binding on…just like my grandmother was sewing the napkins for soooo many, many decades.2016-12-30-17-33-29

And if you really like this queen size quilt and like to buy it from me….just send me a note!

Do You See What I See

img_7816A hike through the forest…

So peaceful this is!img_7723

You should see the rocks and the crevasses, many covered with all kinds of moss.  Just love all the little things I see when taking time to look. Perfect moment.

Eine Waderung durch den Wald …

img_7812

Perfekter Moment.

Rattlesnake Point

img_7784

I was taken back by all big crevasses in this Forest.

Rattlesnake Point by Milton, Ontario.

part of the trail was also on  The Bruce Trail..

Amazing my hubby walked all of the Bruce Trail in the past two years and this in all kinds of weather…Congratulatons to him and his buddies. What a accomplishment!

img_7639

As whe had lunch we had a visit by this Garter Snake

What a perfect place for a Sunday hike with my hubby.I was able to take my camera along and WOW I have to say my hubby truly has to slow his walking pace down with me.  Just like to see things from a different view. Close up mostly I have to admit. See my next post coming soon…

It reminded me a bit of some places back home. I think I remember somewhere in the “D’Hölli” ? Some of you back home perhaps you can help me out on this one. But I remember someplace like this in one of the Forest by Möhlin, Switzerland.

Fall Rag Quilt

We sew quilts together and as we all know there is always leftover fabric from the quilt we just proudly finished. So no surprise I had a view pieces of flannel left from a previous quilt I put together.

Working at The Quilt Store , I get to see new fabric coming in and believe me the colours and prints are very hard to resist.

Truly believe with Clodagh our new Owner of the store, that the supplies will be gorgeous and you too will find what you are looking for your next project.

File 2015-11-21, 12 01 11 PMSo here is what I just put together this morning. This Rag Quilt is not finished as I am looking for a border to go around the edge.

Kind of got the sewing bug yesterday while I helped out at my friends booth “Divas Quilting Studio”

at the Seasons Christmas Show

Ursula has some amazing quilts for sale till tomorrow November 22nd. Great Christmas gifts at really good prices.

Thanksgiving Hike AT Boyne Valley Provincial Park

2015-01-12 Thanksgiving Monday hike Bruce Trail 077 Boyne Valley Provincial Park is part of the Bruce Trail.

Where I only have gone on two hikes with my Hubby. He and his friends have almost completed all of the Bruce Trail that goes all the way from Niagara, Ontario to Tobermory2015-01-12 Thanksgiving Monday hike Bruce Trail 151 a small community located at the northern tip of the Bruce Peninsula in the municipality of Northern Bruce Peninsula. It is 300 km northwest of Toronto.

So he has only two or three hikes that he needs to still walk and with it being so nice and warm on this past Thanksgiving Monday. The opportunity to go and hike the 15 km in this Boyne Valley was just perfect. Off I went on a perfect day together with my Hubby.

Just had to sit on top of one of these hay bales
Just had to sit on top of one of these hay bales with a little help from my Hubby as they are a bit high….and yes I am not a spring chicken anymore..lol

There are so many other great vendors there. You have to see the boot 734 right next to us. I think they are “El Tambache Traveling Show”. A father son operation belonging to the Fair Trade Federation. I have been buying mittens and leg warmers whenever I see them. They even have coats that are all lined with super soft fleece too.

As we where leaving the second day, still inside the Metro Toronto Convention Center I had this view. CN Tower directly above me.

Always like to go to Toronto it is a stunning view when you drive in to the city it

Hope today will be a good day for you ladies working the show. Take a break, have a lunch you will need it for the take down after.

Suits Me Fine Quilt

2014-10-19 12.46.56When Adrienne my co-worker was designing and piecing this “Suits Me Fine” quilt last year I know I had to make one for myself too. Shortly after she finished her quilt, the store put it together for a quilt kit I believe for last years Creative Festival Fall 2013 . Several of us bought one each and here I am …loving it. Especially with the minky  backing…sooo soft.

Minky for my backing
Minky for my backing

My winter can come now. But not so fast please. I enjoy this Fall Season too.

This is my third quilt (not including the rag-Quilts) I pieced together and quilted on my friends long-arm quilting machine. Really nice to have a girlfriend that lets me use her special long-arm machine and the best thing is she too is from Switzerland so we even can chat in our “Schwiitzerduetsch”

2014-10-19 12.44.54Adrianne, meine Arbeits Kollegin  etworf disen Quilt letztes Jahr.
