A busy past 24 hours sewing up new masks. Had stashed up way to much fabric sections of 8″ strips and really needed to get it sewn up into more masks. Lucky for me I have fabrics all around me and usually get first hand and what is coming in at “The Quilt Store”. SO thought since I have some time why not get busy with my sewing machine.
I think I did sew more than 40 masks …lol actually I just counted 57 it is… Love this pattern, thank you Cassie.
It’s funny how this mask stuff has become a new way of our life’s in past year. So I say why not have some fun with the fabric choices and be creative.
indicates, one purse with many looks. Sew up one main inner bag and then just make several outer covers.
With that said even with just one outer cover you can have 2 different looks. See my pictures, one is floral and the other is abstract print. Same main bag with two liners heach opposite.
Love how this designer “Susan Rooney” gives us this perfect written and illustrated pattern.
With mine, I find that either the outer section could be sewn together with 1/4 ” seem instead with 5/8″ as my inner main bag seem to be a slight bit too big for the outer cover.
Overall this pattern is well worth the purchase and creating Your “One Of A Kind” Purse… You should come and see me at my work place I can give you all the ideas on fabric selections if you need some help with that. I love to help you and be creative. Only promise is …Smile You have to come and show me the end result. Totally love to see it :-)
Oh and I forgot to say, You can also just use the inner bag to go into any other purse you have without ever having to transfer allll the may special items you carry along in you bag…LOL if your like me You will have many.
I tell you working in a fabric store can be fun. Especially when in the middle of the summer you receive Christmas print fabrics….nooo I love the summer heat……I really don’t want to think about that cold winter time…gurr. I prefer and love the summer heat we are having now.
So on a quieter day at work I thought I’ll give that embroidery machine, “Alliance” by Baby Lock a try again. I like working with that machine.
Just a fun table runner with no exact pattern really just have fun …..
“Sugar”, “Milk”, “Rum”, and “Eggnog”
Then added the Lite Steam-A-Seam2 to the back of the embroidered words and cut them to shapes of your liking. Do the same with panel fabric sections. I left about 1/4″ all around each sections. I like them to fray a bit once it will get washed. Not sure how that will work out at this time but if you want to secure each section with the raw edge application method.
I already cut my green background fabric that measures 9.5″ x 36″ then added all around a 2″ border. Now add the cut out words and panel sections to the runner as you like.
Add the heat resistant batting and backing and pin all well so that you can work your free motion quilting. This part can be a lot of fun just let your creative mind take over….tirm the outside off and add a binding just like for quilts.
I was inspired by this Jelly Roll Rug…and well you know I have a thing for Bags…So I thought of creating my own bag with the same method.
So a customer at work had her quilt quilted and did not need the extra fabric that we usually have to cut off to straighten the quilt. She gave all that to me. It already had some of the batting sewn on to the strips that I cut into 2,5″ strips. Yes I know it has some of the sewing from quilting on the strips ….That doesn’t bother me at all. I find it adds the uniqueness to this bag.
I had some fabric that was perfect in colour to make my sided and leather handles that oh yes are just perfect for this bag too. Love the green and brown together…
Hope to have this pattern soon available for You too to make your fun bag too and see where it will go….
Original pattern is “The Ultimate Sewing bag” and since this bag will not be used for sewing items or taking along notions to classes.
We decided to eliminate the iron pad.
Ok You know what that tells me ….Modifications are in order!
Though truly if you are going to sewing Retreats the “Ultimate Sewing Bag” idea IS a wonderful addition FOR ALL THE NOTIONS.
Here for this Ultimate Pocket Purse I modified the one side to make it the same as the other shorter side and did not add the iron bad to bottom…
I never took the class we have running at the store so …I have to say this is not a beginner project and it did give me some challenges …but I did it…Yehhh so happy about it !!!
You can see I added a special front panel to this bag.
Have printed, yes on fabric sheets a special picture that my friend has created of her dog “Rudy” she wood burned his image on a piece of wood…She called this “Pyrography”
And Voila …all done and hopefully the happy owner will be pleased too…..
Thanks Ave for a wonderful “One Of A Kind” gift you created for my husbands special Birthday!
Yehhh I finished this bag ….after 3 days of sewing….I did it!!!
The pattern is at it original way a Sewing Bag…
I like it, but since I would never use the ironing pad on it. I decided to alter this up…
followed the pattern (except for iron pad) ….till I came to outer panels.
I tell You I am glad I have a workhorse fo a sewing machine, Janome MC6500 . I used faux Suede and the interfacing was heavy too. Would go lighter next time in my choice of Interfacing or Stabilizer.
Then I was not sure where I had gone wrong? Somehow I ended up with two the same with outer fabric 1 facing out and second 1 facing in….NOOOOO!!! Why is that I ask?
Off to my modifications working a side panel like in the “Sew Together Bag”. Only to realize that now the bag front and back are falling way to much open.
OK, what next was my question? Lets turn bag inside out and make more pockets…LOL
Perfect !!! FINISHED HUwww…
So I am looking forward to seeing the once worked up at the store…It is the first bag I have put together that has lots of zippers, pockets and folder slots.
I think this will be a great bag to go travel with. Perfect for Passports, Travel documents and yes even my DSL Camera should fit in to my modified bag…
Happy with the end result….yes not perfect with all the exact precise measures….I like it and I managed to sew it up on my own (Embroidery section for Front pocket is a sample that was going into the garbage!)
“Sew TOGETHER Bag” is this awesome bag from “Sew Demented” that anyone can sew up in a day for first time using the pattern…Well it took me 5 hours for this one. Really had to think what it is telling me to do next in the pattern…and not rush into sewing sections together.
So I took my time and looked everything over twice before I cut or sewn the sections together..
and It worked out pretty amazing I think…This bag is perfect for Knitting or sewing notions. I’ll make a view more for sure…just need more zippers and some fabric…but guess what? SMILES……I am working Friday and Saturday so I have that alllll……right in front of me alllll day…smiles. Ok If you like I can show you too where we have the pattern and help you with selections for the fabric ….looking forward to see you then. Really love this Sew together bag…..
but this time I followed the instructions!!! Have a look “River Stones”
Though my “WOF” (width of fabric) was not 45″ like I think it should be for the instructions mine was a standard 42″ so I seem to not have enough of some fabric length as I needed to make a 8 1/2″ block. So good thing I had lots of fabric to sew up another strip.
Oh don’t use a directional fabric if the direction of some strips run in a different direction does bother You….I love the fun part of this though…
This could be the pillow see last pic in this pic bundle
one side that woul dbe folded over for the pillow
Pillow!!! with batting and backing too…kind of questioning this part but will find out why soon…
I now have one table runner and possibly a pillow or I’ll make it into a second table runner…just so I have another one…..LOL :-)))) Or I can give it as a Gift to someone I care about. ;-) That sound good to me too!
All I have to do is quilt the edges and some stitch in the ditch I think but will know better by tomorrow…The first Table runner I quilted much more, and I truly enjoy that part of quilting.
Happy sewing to you too… perhaps I will see you at my work place getting fabric just for this kind of quilting…
Finally I decided to piece this Log Cabin quilt together. I have had this fabric for over two years in my stash….sounds familiar to You? The pattern is called “Fields of Furrows” All together 36 blocks in 10 hours …huwww. Done.
Then sewing it all into one big Queen size piece by piece. Smiles, it would not go without a hickup….I had it all placed correct and still was able to sew one strip wrong so the howl section looked off. Undo my stitching and back together the right way…in no time.
Now just have to get the batting backing and I have lots of fabric left so may even do something fun for the backing with all that extra fabric instead of buying more fabric. then the Quilting…..chat soon again. Have a great week
All the fabric I used and still have leftovers
Cut and sew
My blocks look like this
My choice in the lay out
way tooooo many
another option ….and it goes on and one
another perfect option….
Das Muster heißt “Fields of Furrows”. Ganze 36 Blöcke in 10 Stunden … huwww. Erledigt.
So changed my pattern up a bit. Removed the top strip with the cars off and worked several borders around it as I liked it. Then cut out many cars and added them by sewing them on top of the quilt. Now ready to be quilted ….
I think this one is not bad for doing it all on my own with no pattern…
Well it truly has been a long time since we had a good rain here in the Upper York Region of Ontario. I have enjoyed the hot summer so far, but some rain is definitely welcomed today.
So home I was and normally I would do my everyday stuff and once that is done I do enjoy some knitting. But today I thought lets change this up and sewing away.
Yesterday at my workplace “The Quilt Store” I could not resist buying one of the panels I sold to a customer. Just have to make one too. Soooo sweet and great for both bay or girl.
Fabric by : Northcott Fabrics “A Little Birdie Told Me” But wait I already have all this christmas prints at home. Got to finish this one too. Hope you visit soon again, I’ll show you the both quilts once they are all done and ready to cuddle up in…Enjoy a wonderful week and Thanks for visiting my Blog. Always love your comments…Cheers
Christmas Panel
Was macht man an einem regnerischen Tag?
Oh this one is in the works since this morning. Thought after a day’s work at the store I have to be productive and work on my stash of fabric for a change. So here is the beginning of this
“OH CANADA”
After 2 1/2 hours of sewing the fabric pieces together I now have to get batting and the backing and quilt it too. But not today as it is nice I really should go work in my backyard a little…
So see you soon with the finished Quilt.
Giant Floor-Pillow great to be cozy on the floor knitting away. You see the other pillow in the back in pinks not really our colour in the home. but had the fabric
I think I have gone mad….ohhh how big did this pillow turn out. Yes I was planing to make a somewhat bigger floor pillow for me to sit one. In the past out Rocky would snuggle up next to me while I was sitting on the floor knitting away. I always love that. So here I am still sitting from time to time on the floor knitting away just no Rocky anymore.
This is how it started….Well I did not expect it to get that big!
Back to this Giant Floor Pillow….ahhh I really do not have the space for this size. What do I do now? This is one of those moments where my hubby probably thinks…..”Oh no not this again” In a good way lol. Well the colours work a little better with our home decor then the two smaller one I already sewn up two weeks ago. So will see what will happen with this stunning, big, colourful, sued, upholstery and yes cozy to sit in floor Pillow. Now if Rocky still would be with us perhaps he would have loved to sleep on it. Out Timber is already checking it out too.
Gald to have that much stuffing available in such short notice….Dankschoen
Oh yes it measures a great big 3 feet across never mind about the weight…
Stuffing and more stuffing.
Timber is wondering about this too. I wonder if he is going to snooze on it?
Was soll ich jetzt tun?
Looks like our cat loves it too. Likes to be close to see what this funny machine is doing…nose away please …
Nose away please. .smiles last night he decided to bring up the crochet triangular shawl that I started to work on. so funny I found it in my bedroom on the floor …now if I only could find the hook I had stuck to it too. He is always up to something.
I should be outside in the garden
Yes they are starting to grow. Can’t wait to see them flower too
cleaning up but decided to finish a view of my unfinished sewing projects. Well kind of finished, as for the quilt, need to add batting and backing and quilt it next.
“Remembering Grandma” well mine was the “Morning Star” but it did not go as planed so changes it to “Remembering Grandma” with opening up a view seems and making it work. Looks nice now too and I am happy this way too.
Dresden Plate Pillow…Love sewing them up soooo much fun, fast and easy
The Pillow just needs some stuffing and two buttons and sewing it closed and voila. What a great idea to used up fabric I had stashed in my home…
I think I have a new favourite ” Dresden Plate” love this idea. I think I’ll work on the bag next and maybe the table runner….
