Versatile Wave Purse

IMG_4904Totally love this purse idea as the name

“Versatile Wave”

indicates, one purse with many looks. Sew up one main inner bag and then just make several outer covers.

IMG_4917

With that said even with just one outer cover you can have 2 different looks. See my pictures, one is floral and the other is abstract print. Same main bag with two liners heach opposite.

Love how this designer “Susan Rooney” gives us this perfect written and illustrated  pattern.

With mine, I find that either the outer section could be sewn together with 1/4 ” seem  instead with 5/8″ as my inner main bag seem to be a slight bit too big for the outer cover.

Overall this pattern is well worth the purchase and creating Your “One Of A Kind” Purse… You should come and see me at my work place I can give you all the ideas on fabric selections if you need some help with that. I love to help you and be creative. Only promise is …Smile You have to come and show me the end result. Totally love to see it :-)

Oh and I forgot to say, You can also just use the inner bag to go into any other purse you have without ever having to transfer allll the may special items you carry along in you bag…LOL if your like me You will have many.

Eggnog And Rum

IMG_4089“Eggnog And Rum”

Table-runner

I tell you working in a fabric store can be fun. Especially when in the middle of the summer you receive Christmas print fabrics….nooo I love the summer heat……I really don’t want to think about that cold winter time…gurr. I prefer and love the summer heat we are having now.

So on a quieter day at work I thought I’ll give that embroidery machine,                      “Alliance” by Baby Lock a try again. I like working with that machine.

Just a fun table runner with no exact pattern really just have fun …..

  “Sugar”, “Milk”, “Rum”, and “Eggnog”

Then added the  Lite Steam-A-Seam2 to the back of the embroidered words and cut them to shapes of your liking. Do the same with panel fabric sections. I left about 1/4″ all around each sections.  I like them to fray a bit once it will get washed. Not sure how that will work out at this time but if you want to secure each section with the raw edge application method.

I already cut my green background fabric that measures 9.5″ x 36″ then added all around a 2″ border. Now add the cut out words and panel sections to the runner as you like.

Add the heat resistant batting and backing and pin all well so that you can work your free motion quilting. This part can be a lot of fun just let your creative mind take over….tirm the outside off and add a binding just like for quilts.

Happy Sewing

Thanks Sew Much

IMG_1786Best thing Clodagh my boss said to me yesterday, was

“Let’s work up an embroidery Design from our newest Anita Goodesign All Access Club …..oh yes, and try to do it on the Baby Lock Alliance Embroidery machine”

If you could have seen my reaction …Smiles Yes with open arms literally …I welcomed and needed that challenge. Sometimes it is hard to see the light when your so sad and can’t see the sunshine in life…

Quilted Rug Sewing At My House

IMG_0098Yes it was a day or two of sewing

Quilted Rug Sewing At My House”

after all I work in a place that sells lots of quilting fabric at  “The Quilts Store”

The fun part of this is, we get some amazing teachers in from time to time..but let me tell you we have several of my colleges that are amazing teachers too.

One of the classes was this

  Quilted Rugs with Al Cote

Have a look at one of my earlier posts another great teacher. I would recommend either one of their classes for sure.

Yes I was working my shift but I had to see all the wonderful samples the students/customers where working on from time to time too. Smiles, just part of me interacting with the customers too…I believe this is my role in good customer service too.

So I picked up the some tips on how to make something like this RUG too. But since I was not in the class my sample may not be exactly as Al instructed it …but I am happy with the way it turned out. Though I wish it would rag more like the rag quilts do.

Really fun, though the cutting out of all the fabric was a bit “ahhhh” do I have to through all this fabric out to get to the 1st, 2nd, 3rd layer etc….I guess it will go in a bag for stuffing.

Rainy Day Sewing

File 2016-08-16, 8 24 50 PMWhat to do on a rainy day?

Well it truly has been a long time since we had a good rain here in the Upper York Region of Ontario. I have enjoyed the hot summer so far, but some rain is definitely welcomed today.

So home I was and normally I would do my everyday stuff and once that is done I do enjoy some knitting. But today I thought lets change this up and sewing away.

Yesterday at my workplace “The Quilt Store” I could not resist buying one of the panels I sold to a customer. Just have to make one too.  Soooo sweet and great for both bay or girl.

Fabric by : Northcott Fabrics “A Little Birdie Told Me” But wait I already have all this christmas prints at home. Got to finish this one too. Hope you visit soon again, I’ll show you the both quilts once they are all done and ready to cuddle up in…Enjoy a wonderful week and Thanks for visiting my Blog. Always love your comments…CheersFile 2016-08-16, 8 25 07 PM

Christmas Panel

Was macht man an einem regnerischen Tag?

Homespun Rag Quilt

2016-05-23 19.23.58Yes new Homespun fabric has arrived at “The Quilt Store” where I work…

Love the colours and I have to tell you the Homespun is one of my favourite fabrics by far.

Well next to the batik. But with batik you can’t make a rag quilt…So this Homespun  is a perfect weight for a spring or summer evening cuddle quilt sitting by the fire camping or in your backyard.

You too can sew this up in no time.

I was kind of thinking of making a longer rag wrap quilt for me to put over my shoulders in the evenings…but really need to get some headway with some of my knitting too.

2016-05-23 12.13.42
small bundel

All you need is half a meter of 6 colours each.

2016-05-23 10.35.57

Cut them into 6″ squares  (my front and back are the same fabric) then deco stitch a “X” with any fancy stitch you like onto the 6″square. Sew them all in a pleasing way together with a 1/2″ sem . I had 6 squares by 9 squares as you can see in the picture or at the store.

For the edging you need about 1.20 meters of one colour cut them into 5″ stripes and fold in half. This amount was based on the length 9 squares that now are only 5″ due to the 1/2″ seam. I sewed the edge onto the 9 square length first then the 5 square edge.

2016-05-23 12.13.19-1
before the wash

Cut the fringes and off to the wash…Please make sure once you put this into the drier you empty the filter about every 3-5 minutes believe me it will be full of lint.

2016-05-23 11.17.12
lint amount every 3-5 minutes! So make sure you empty it often

Table-Runners

File 2016-04-07, 3 53 07 PMFast and easy to sew up. With just one Charm Pack of Moda Autumn Woods  and one meter for backing and Fusible Thermolam  I was able to sew up Two Table-Runner for a smaller table.

No pattern needed just sew 3 squares together in length. Repeat this for all squares.

Then sew them together so you will get 7 strip long runner. You will have a runner 3 squares high and 7 squares long.

Now iron the fusible Thermolam to the back of the runner.

Once that is done use a decorative stitch over the seamed straight lines or do free motion quilting throughout the runner..up to You. Now I clipped each corner off so I have a triangle there this way  the runner looks a little more refined.File 2016-04-07, 3 52 45 PM

Now sew backing onto the right side of runner but leave an opening so you can turn inside out. Iron flat and sew open spot shout top-stitch  all around edge with a 1.4 inch seam.

voila all done.

I did buy this Charm Pack at my workplace The Quilt Store Fall 2014 but you  can sew this one up with any fabric or charm pack. Just have fun and be creative…..File 2016-04-07, 3 52 31 PM

Voila fertig bist Du.

Placemats For A Softer Look

File 2016-02-07, 4 13 23 PMPlacemats for a softer Look is a little twist to my everyday go to Pattern.  I decided to cut the squares into rectangles and then sew them to the squares…oh did not think that now I have not the same dimensions as the squares are.  It needs a little adjustments in cutting my squares next time. I get it. Still love it everybody needs to learn from their errors. Smiles Debbie S. I have to attend your classes I know!

Blueberry Park by Robert Kaufman is a Great fabric for many wonderful projects. Sure have a look at the many great natural colours…at The Quilt Store for four placemats you will need 3 fabrics at 20″ x  42″ and about 39″x 42″ for the backing and your one sided Fusible Thermolam

also 39″ …..and volia just start cutting ….

Fall Rag Quilt

We sew quilts together and as we all know there is always leftover fabric from the quilt we just proudly finished. So no surprise I had a view pieces of flannel left from a previous quilt I put together.

Working at The Quilt Store , I get to see new fabric coming in and believe me the colours and prints are very hard to resist.

Truly believe with Clodagh our new Owner of the store, that the supplies will be gorgeous and you too will find what you are looking for your next project.

File 2015-11-21, 12 01 11 PMSo here is what I just put together this morning. This Rag Quilt is not finished as I am looking for a border to go around the edge.

Kind of got the sewing bug yesterday while I helped out at my friends booth “Divas Quilting Studio”

at the Seasons Christmas Show

Ursula has some amazing quilts for sale till tomorrow November 22nd. Great Christmas gifts at really good prices.

This is what hapends when I am off work for two days and it is cold outside.

Two days off work, well it is so bitter cold at -29 who wants to go out?! See what came off it. A dozen knitting bags and more….Well it does help to work in a Fabric and Yarn store I have to say. Have a look at “The Quilt Store and The Yarn Store” we have so much fabric and yes yarns too. Sometimes it is hard being around all this amazing stuff.

"Grace" Knitting Bag
“Grace” Knitting Bag

My Co-worker Deb showed me how to sew up this knitting bag. For sure I had to sew one up asap. Well new fabric came in ..guess what some came home with me too. I used Canvas fabric for all my main print part and reg cotton prints for the rest, lining and topper, handles and inner lining. I love them all and wow can’t decide the one I am going to keep for Myself. My mom like some too well that gives me some options I guess.

Schau was ich genäht habe.

Puppies at The Quilt and Yarn Store

Oh I never thought I go to work one day and have the wonderful experience to see puppies being born. Yes you may say at  a Pet Store sure…..Well this was all happening at

“The Quilt Store & The Yarn Store”

only 2 hours ago.

How sweet is this

“Bella”

having her very first puppy…a girl too

Looks like we will have our puppy of the store!!! Smile

Ana you will have your hands full …more to come

and sure enough one more girl

                                                                              two puppies so far.

My First Rag Quilt

Yes you are probably asking yourself

What is she doing now…wandering from the yarns….????

I CAN TELL YOU

THAT

WILL NEVER HAPPEN!!!

I love my knitting and will always enjoy creating handknit items. Though since I now work in a Quilt and Yarn Store the ladies there are trying to convert me to patchwork and quilting…

So I thought I will give it a try.

So you may see in the future not just posting knitted items but also me working with…. yes amazing fabric…

I kind of like the flannel, I guess it is because it feels so snugly warm like this first “Rag Quilt”

I sewed up in about two days.

And….Yes I did ask lots of question at work ” THANKS FOR ALL YOUR HELP”

Smile, my Co-Workers in the Quilt and Yarn section are amazing,

giving me a place to be and have my daily fun.
