Love the colours and I have to tell you the Homespun is one of my favourite fabrics by far.
Well next to the batik. But with batik you can’t make a rag quilt…So this Homespun is a perfect weight for a spring or summer evening cuddle quilt sitting by the fire camping or in your backyard.
You too can sew this up in no time.
I was kind of thinking of making a longer rag wrap quilt for me to put over my shoulders in the evenings…but really need to get some headway with some of my knitting too.
All you need is half a meter of 6 colours each.
Cut them into 6″ squares (my front and back are the same fabric) then deco stitch a “X” with any fancy stitch you like onto the 6″square. Sew them all in a pleasing way together with a 1/2″ sem . I had 6 squares by 9 squares as you can see in the picture or at the store.
For the edging you need about 1.20 meters of one colour cut them into 5″ stripes and fold in half. This amount was based on the length 9 squares that now are only 5″ due to the 1/2″ seam. I sewed the edge onto the 9 square length first then the 5 square edge.
Cut the fringes and off to the wash…Please make sure once you put this into the drier you empty the filter about every 3-5 minutes believe me it will be full of lint.
We sew quilts together and as we all know there is always leftover fabric from the quilt we just proudly finished. So no surprise I had a view pieces of flannel left from a previous quilt I put together.
Working at The Quilt Store , I get to see new fabric coming in and believe me the colours and prints are very hard to resist.
Truly believe with Clodagh our new Owner of the store, that the supplies will be gorgeous and you too will find what you are looking for your next project.
So here is what I just put together this morning. This Rag Quilt is not finished as I am looking for a border to go around the edge.
As I was busy working on this Rag Quilt all weekend I totally missed the Weekly photo challenge.
Now my quilt is in the wash for the felting, but before that I took some pictures with the hope to blog about it and show you how much fun this Rag Quilts is to sew up.
Not realizing at that time what the weekly them is….
Just logged on to computer… Yes…this will be perfect for this Weeks Photo Challenge:
One Shot, Two Ways
The one shot is of the Rag Quilt where I stand above it. My favourite one is where I was placing the camera on the quilt and taking a shot of all the cut ends, that now are in the wash machine to felt up. Nice and cuddly soft it will once it will be dry.
Well…. I can tell You all, the doors have not even open and we “The Staff” of The Quilt Store and The Yarn Store in Newmarket are already having so much fun. This mornings drive to the International Centre was a blast….Irene made sure we all are awake that is for sure. The coffee helped too I have to say….Thanks for our great driver Adrienne we arrived in no time.
Ok I have to say THANKS! to Ana and Joe to have the super soft floor all laid out already.
I was wondering all night if those boxes made it onto the truck.
When You are at our booth #115 visiting tomorrow Friday or Saturday, You too will know why I was worried that these boxes possibly were left behind at storage.
