Celebration Tulip Cowl

File 2017-01-12, 10 48 04 AMWe celebrate 150 Year Canada this year …

 Celebration Tulip Cowl

has been designed to honour  this event. Although I have seen the Maple Leaf Tulip in pictures only at the time of me disining this cowl. I too was inspired to reflect it in my knitting and design….with planting in the fall of 2016, 50 of the Maple Leaf Tulip bulbs. File 2017-05-31, 3 09 48 PM

So after I had a look though my already existing yarn stash I found several smaller balls of fingering weight of my own KnitswissYarns. My colours are perfect for this tulip colours and concept.  I am excited to tell you the  pattern was published in “A Needle Pulling Thread” Summer edition 2017

If  You  like you can purchase the pattern through “A Needle Pulling Thread” by clicking on the link above.

My Orange Shades of Gray

2015-02-28 08.25.59 Well  I can’t knit this cowl just in gray!

I had to go with some other colour to show you have easy and simple this one is to knit.

Same pattern as “My3 Shades Of Gray” but for this one I only cast on 160 stitches. It does go around my neck two times. Fantastic …love wearing it. The yarn is fun and still warm to wear, super easy and fast to knit up…a TV night night knit If you like.

Only used one skein of Sirdar Divine and a 5mm needle that is all….voila all done.2015-02-28 08.26.24

My 3 Shades of Gray

My 3 Shades OF Gray Cowl in the works
My 3 Shades OF Gray Cowl in the works

So am I having you wondering what this is?

“My 3 Shades Of Gray”

It is a cowl!

Yes knit up all in white and black. I thought I’ll create something fun and fast. So you too can knit it up asap.

Material needed for this cowl is:

2015-02-10 13.33.31
3 Shades of gray around my neck 3 times. love it that close

2 skeins of Katia Air Lux about 600 meters in black

2 skeins of Katia Kiss about 500 meters in cream

1 Circular Needle size 4.5mm at a 60 to 80cm length

Pattern:

I am holding two strands of Katia AirLux together and using 4.5mm needle

Cast on 220 stitches.
This cowl will stretch a bit so if you like it shorter cast on 180 to 200 sts. I can wrap this cowl easily around my neck 3x

now knit in the round don’t worry if it is twisted!

**Knit one round ,
Purl one round,
Knit one round,
Purl one round…. and so on till you have 5 rib.
You want to end with a purl row.

Next row;   k1, 2 yarn overs, k1, 2 yarn overs, k1, 2 YO, K1, 2YO continue this way to end of row.**

Next row;   knit all stitches but drop all yarn overs (YO) down. That will give you the bigger stitch.

Next row;   start with one purl row and then follow pattern
reaped like ** these rows ** till you run out of yarn or have the desired width of cowl.
Cast off with a bigger size needle to make sure it is lose enough.

I used different yarn too. Some I held double and some I only used one strand. Play with your colours too. In the middle pattern I held one white and one black strand together.
my cowl has a total of 5 pattern reps.
Enjoy and yes if you see an error in this pattern write-up just send me a note.
Smiles and hugs and have fun

Enjoy

Brick Road Cowl

Brick Road Cowl
Brick Road Cowl
Our Pearl love to snuggle in this cozy stuff
Our Pearl love to snuggle in this cozy stuff

Stunning colours!

The brick road cowl by Madelinetosh is super fun to knit up. I used 4 skeins for this cowl of Dye Hard Fibre Arts SW Merino fingering   2 skeins =  816.0 yards (746.2m) in Black and  2 skeins of pink. the needle size was US 5  – 3.75 mm.
The pattern suggest for you to knit 8 inches before you switch colours. This does require you to use 4 skeins of yarn 2 for each colour.2014-01-16 17.44.30
Now with that said if you like to only use two skeins One in each colour…no problem just make sure you only knit about 6 inches tops and then switch the colours. However I have not knit it up that way so I will not guarantee this exact measurement in reg to 6 inches! I myself would try it this way though…
2014-02-18 07.31.20Atemberaubende Farben!
So 2 Stänge in 2 Faben.

 Also warum nicht!

Under Cover of Midnight Hooded Cowl

Under Cover of Midnight Hooded Cowl ….

I am a fan of cable knitting and this cowl is constructed with several of them from the cast on edge to cast off edge…perfect and really easy too.

A pattern that is available on Ravelry by Julie Turjoman.

http://www.ravelry.com/patterns/library/under-cover-of-midnight-hooded-cowl

For this cowl I used 2 skeins of Dye Hard Fibre Arts SW Merino Worsted about 400 yards or 365 meters in a “Silver Lining Gray” colour and size 6mm needles so a relative fast knit if you enjoy cable knitting.

I enjoy knitting with this yarn! I think it will be perfect for so many cardigans, sweaters for ladies as well as for the gentlemen in your home. Or try a shawl for the winter sooo many fun colours to choose from too

Under Cover of Midnight Hooded Cowl ….
