Paradise Beach at Carriacou

After a fantastic relaxing afternoon on Sandy Beach with sunset, perfect turquoise water we did get a bit hungry..

So we had the water taxi come and get us and take us over to Paradise Beach… What a ride… that guy is definitely speeding, or so it felt.. Almost like a roller coaster ride… just on water. What a thrill…loved it!

Paradise Beach Club is another heaven on Earth I think. Allison the owner with her staff so full of smiles and joy for what they do. I am so in love with your place Alison.

A lady was at the bar believe from the England with her hubby.. playing music from her computer.. so cool. Let’s go dancing I said to the crew …as we wait for the food.

Ah so leave it up to me to go first. SO I did chatting with the lady..she said go ask my hubby… ok. dancing we are.. next lets change it up a bit. You go get a lady, I go get a gentleman.. and so on we danced till almost all where on the sandy beach dancing.. It just takes one person to start.. voila it a fun night… under the tropical sky on the beach by Paradise Beach Club

Allison your food is amazing Your staff.. Just love them. Thank you so much for the Conch shell you kindly gave me as a memory.

Allison and I … this night was amazing.
This was just so funny. Clinton and I pretended to have a phone conversation using a Shell…
” Hi Clinton, can you hear me?
Ahh no It’s all fuzzy to me…full of ocean sounds…”
LOL
Happy sounds
Smiles…
Good fun to have… makes the heart happy too.

My heart was happy and so loved this evening… chatting on the deck under the stars… as I was falling a sleep on deck. Kapt’n Dave was worried and said you all should really moved in to cockpit… Waking up in morning with pillow under my head and blanket on me…;-) such a wonderful feeling. Thank YOU.

“Memories …Some call me crazy for sleeping on the balcony in Florida last February so I could hear the ocean. Memories to remember…”

Sandy Island, Caribbean,

Yes I was in total amazement and could not believe how unbelievably blessed I felt as we sailed into this Bay. Paradise Beach on one side of the bay and Sandy Island on the other side. The water OMG I honestly can say I have only one other time (Antigua) seen the water so Turquoise as it is her…

“Sandy Island, off the west side of Hillsborough Bay, is a favorite daytime destination for snorkelers and sailors. It’s a tiny postcard-perfect reef island of glistening sands surrounded by turquoise waters.”

lol my second attempt snorkeling over to Sandy Beach.. I seem to have a issue with mask filling up with water…

That water was so turquoise blue…. Just wishing we could have stayed longer. I know we all have to get back one day to reality … flights to catch.. new crew coming on board..

Early evening on Lady Natalie.. spending time together so full of laughter, fun moments, time to relax and enjoy the beauty of this incredible Beach.

Day 8: Carriacou, Caribbean Island

Good morning Sunshine…Jan 16th. 2020

Sea-Glass I found on beach this morning

We are still in Carriacou with plans to get supplies for some food and then heading out to do some sailing… but the Kapt’ns agenda for today was, we practice tacking and jibbing.. Ok I think I am getting the hang of this Lady a little more now. We all had turns on the helm to get to feel the wind and sail…smiles If you tracked the moves on the GPS… lol looks more like a bunch of drunken sailors on the helm… just kidding no drinking as we sail.

With making sure Dave and Clinton get on dinghy with all the food provisions safely to get back in the dinghy?

As Clinton and Dave took food back to sailboat.. Us 3 ladies walked the beach to better spot for us to go back onto the dinghy. I found all kinds of nice shells and even sea-glass. not a lot but first time I actually did find some ever.

Carriacou, Caribbean Island

So I have to tell you something. I need to write thing down in a book when I travel next time. Apparently I had a memory laps somewhere on this trip… we have seen sooo many spectacular places and for me it was a little overwhelming to see all this … paradise. A experience I will not forget, can you tell I am still dreaming about it.

Memory laps was: It looks like we sailed directly from Halifax Harbor to Paradise Beach…NONONO!!! We actually anchored in Carriacou first! Glad Annabelle cleared this up for me…

ahh ok now we are a little hungry lets take the dinghy to shore… and enjoy a meal at “The Slipway” YUMMY.

Craving for food all taken care of now.. back to the Lady… to enjoy the evening on board…Always fun too

A good night sleep… to refresh for a new day of sailing…

Day 6: Grenada to Carriacou, Caribbean Island

So this is now my 6th day on Lady Natalie. The 43 foot Sailboat of Dave’s he also is running Sailabration Cruising. You too could be here one day if you are interested in sailing. I can’t believe look I am sailing today again…Looks like Annabelle had some fun with my camera.

.

This morning we left Halifax Harbor one of my absolute fave spot…

looks good to sail to Carriacou today. So I am on the helm for about I think it was close to 2-3 hours. Loved every moment of it. Such a totally different experience from Lace Simcoe to Ocean sailing. On a bigger sailboat too, sailboat duel helm wheal instead of a tiller…

After several hours on helm Look at what we got into next… .

3-4 meter Swells coming from 2 different directions Now…
“Waves and seas are described by the height from trough to crest; swell also is described by the direction it’s coming from.
” SO if I am correct we had waves and swells coming from 2 directions, hitting each other ?
Am I correct with this thought.?

Big swells are diminishing a little but not by much.. Look at our Annabelle she took the helm… So cool..impressed… I wish I would have too.

Way to go Annabelle!

Arrived at Sandy Beach.. and anchored for tonight.. Smiles I keep on saying this is “PARADIES” this is for sure…what till I show you …tortoise waters all around us….

Halifax Harbor, Grenada

This must be one of the most special places for me…

Heartfelt Moments.Happy Valentine’s Day..

Lady Natalie out on Sea

I don’t believe I have walked on black sand before….This evening sunset was so magical. Dave, Clinton and I snorkeled from the Lady Natalie over to the beach. As Annabelle took the dinghy to keep an eye on us.

I love this picture of Annabelle. There is this feel I get looking at it. Someone very kind and a heart that cares no matter what.

.

Making foot prints on this Island together with my friends. I am so glad that the weather turned

I don’t sometimes know what makes me so happy seeing something so magical like this beach.

I guess it’s just the simpleness in Life,

Feeling the sand on my toes, waves on my legs, wind in my face.

It’s like stepping into a new feeling of Joy

Back on the Lady we enjoyed such a beautiful happy evening together… Thank you for this Memory

Big Cruise Ship way out there. And even closer was this Luxury Cruise ship… So not my style… love Lady Natalie

Day 5 Grenada, Caribbean Island

We are really enjoying this special coffee every morning. Thank You

Our morning views have alwys been so refreshing and peaceful. Today is the first morning though that we are enjoying looking out to the open sea.

Heading in to port quickly to fuel up and get water and some food too.
Docket at Grenada Yacht Club in morning before heading out to Sea

We are off to sail across to Carriacou today, a 30 mile sail. So excited to see this. My first time going out in to the open ocean water. Yes we always have land in sight.. but jut not close by..

After we sailed for several hours the Kapt’n noticed that the horizon is starting to not be there anymore. Or lets say not as distinct as sky to water was earlier on, a storm was coming in. And we have still more then half to sail to Carriacou… time to go back and anchor at Halifax Harbor. The weather is turning and we don’t want to head into this storm.

Glad we did turn Lady Natalie around… Because we would not have been able to experience this so romantic island. With totally black sand…

So beautiful here.

Our anchorage for tonight after turning back from an attempted passage from Grenada to Carriacou. … I can’t wait to show you some of the moments here….

My New Found Passion

Looks like I have found a new passion in my life…

Sailing and traveling if funding and time allows it.

Clark’s Court Boat Yard Bay, Grenada

How did this happen you may ask. Hubby registered me in SKS course last Spring. With Grassroots Sailing Centre . Learned a lot by just going to mentoring days during the sailing season. We have some great and fun skippers that take us out for mentoring days.

During Mentoring time at Grassroots Sailing Centre 2019

Now here I am, sailing in Grenada on Lady Natalie that my friend Dave the skipper and owner of Sailabration Cruising owns. He also is a skipper at Grassroots Sailing Centre.

SO Love this view

I would have never ever thought I am going to be sailing on the ocean, Ever! I am the lucky one to have been able to sail with some of our members from the club and Dave our Kapti’n during the Club Week that was offered to us by Sailabration Cruising in Grenada for 11 days… It totally is Paradise down there.

GRENADA HERE I COME

Day 1 of my trip January 9th 2020

So my flight took off with needing to be deiced. No problem for me as I am going to be in the sunshine soon that day Jan 9th… Oh so beautiful I found is need to be able to walk off the pane not have to go though the tunnel they put up at big airports. Into the heat of Greanda… Wow what a memory.

Ahh yes looking for a taxi now… promptly had several asking me where I am going? As I am going to sit in passenger side… he smiled and wanted to give me the key.. lol they are driving on the left side… oh nooo I am not doing that.

Did I tell you there is only one working traffic light in Grenada! And roads are windy just like in Switzerland. and they stop to chat with friends whenever they feel like. Cars parked for days or left on road just like that. We just drive around them.. makes it fun and oh well unique.

After a short 15 min. drive to Clarke’s Court Boatyard and Marina where Lady Natalie was docked. YESSSS I have arrived and was welcomed by Dave with a smile and a local drink.

Clark’s Court Boat Yard from Lady Natalie’s view now…

Now onto the dinghy with my bag… bags in cabin. Tell me about the boat? What do I do now.. Getting to know about the head… yes important stuff. Fridge…wow. ok.. got it. It’s perfect I think.

A little bit of rain will not hurt us.. so off we went to Nimrod’s Bar is out of the main touristy areas and located in Woburn. What began as a small little rum shop has grown into a full fledged bar. Nimrod’s is hopping with live music, often supplied by yachties anchored out in the bay. Just like us… Dave, Joreg, Marianne and myself.

Jorge and Marianne this couple is going on a big sail soon… You both are soooo much fun!

So I could not believe my ears… someone is speaking German here? I just had to chat with these two guys. It go even more interesting when I found out Konrad (Koni) is Swiss. And works at my Hometown in Switzerland even lives in Germany normally where I have relatives. Juerg is from Germany, that is just too cool.

This day was so much fun and the live band with locals just singing even if it rained …one can dance in the rain too.
