Olympic Torch has arrived in Newmarket

Vancouver 2010 Olympic GamesOlympic Torch has arrived in Newmarket

The Olympic flame symbolizes peace, friendship, inspiration, passion and unity,”

I would say my children and I are lucky to see this wonderful event visiting our Town. With sunshine in the sky and by minus 9 degree this was a welcoming celebration.  It is nice to see the community getting together to celebrate the arrival of the Olympic Torch.   A memory to keep forever and wishing the athletes good luck.  We all know they are doing the best they can.  I have attached some of the pictures I took.

It’s truly a delight to have been chosen as one of the celebration communities.  Newmarket is a fitting choice, especially given that Olympians Josée Chouinard, Melanie Cole and Bobby Forhan have all called the town home.

Clare Kowaltschuk will be our torchbearer to bring the torch to the Magna Centre.

The Flame is Coming…

Winter has Arrived

Snow, snow, snow ohh…. how do we wake up to this?

My daughters word this morning to me, as I am still in bed sleeping where.  “Mom can I look out the window in your room”?  Sleepily I said yes.  Knowing we where suppose to get a snowstorm over night in the Toronto and Greater York Region area all the way to Hamilton etc.

Wow it is the first snow we have this Season and sure we have the wind with it too.  As we let our dog out the door this morning for his morning duty. “Woooow…. mom I am getting blown back in” called my daughter.    Yes it sure is white today and no it is not a day to stay home from School….. I think we are going to get winter tires this year.  To make it save for my husband to go to work every day.

Look what I am working on now for Christmas …Love it, my little Gnome.  Have to give him a beard and a nose.  Then He will be sitting on all that snow.

Fuer meinen Deutsch sprechende Freunde:

Schnee, Schnee, Schnee … ohh.

Day Outside in Our Neighbourhood

Just happen to have our camera with me to get these great pictures.  I always like the grasses and this grass is flowing so softly in the late fall breeze.  I am hoping to add some of this tall soft looking perennial to my garden this spring…..but oh that is still about five months away before I can plant again.

I took several pictures with different settings.

 Fuer meine Deutsch sprechende Freund:

Christmas Season is starting to be around Us.

My Husband and I had two hours to ourselves this past weekend.  Sooo……. we went for a drive and came across this great place that we have in our area to see the wonderful site of Christmas display.   Every Year this is one of my favourite visits.   I remember before we were married we went together to Niagara on the Lake, short drive from the Niagara Falls in Ontario.   I always remember the beauty of all the handmade items some stores displayed in their windows.  Believe it or not I even visited Santa……my wish came true that year. Smile……..

It is wonderful to see, and of course to shop for the small or big budget items you have liked to get for your special Christmas tree for your home:  Santa’s in all kinds of styles, Angels, Birds, Mice, Christmas Balls, Bells, Stars, and Trees.   Red or Yellow Dogwood Branches for your fresh ornaments you have welcoming your Guest and Friends by the Front Door.

So many choices…and the nice time you have just looking at it and having fun sharing it together.

                                “Never Stop Believing”

Spider in it’s Web

Wonderful sight

This was so great I was able to go to one inch up to this Spider that had made this awesome web between two Junipers in our backyard, every day we, the kids and I had a chance to see what this amazing Spider was up to.  Sometimes it was hiding in the Juniper waiting for some action.  This time it was I believe feeding on a bug.  It was interesting depends from what side I approached this Spider it would see me and move back to its hiding spot.  If I came toward it from his top it would not move so I can only think it did not see me and I was so happy to get these beautiful pictures so close up.

“Spider, Spider what do you see

Not me………

Come closer so I see you

Let me look at you ……ohhhh so beautiful what a delicate web

Just look, don’t touch,

I will take care of you…..just look

I’ll be good to you”

A Visit to Kingston, Ontario

Several Year ago…let’s say four Years  to be exact, over the Canadian Thanksgiving Weekend my Husband and I had this great opportunity to have  a few days to ourselves.  We had a wonderful cottage in the woods available to us and the weather was ok.  Not the very best but just to be together and having time with each other was nice.

We went on an Artist open house tour all though the nearby area and came across several very neat places and Artists.  It is fantastic to see what some very Creative people come up with and what they call Art.  Each has their own style and ideas.  We visited some very interesting styles of homes….just amazing.  My eyes just took it all in.

On our walks in the forest we found some other wonderful places as well and took some beautiful pictures.  Just have a look and see for yourself.

Zig-Zag Bead Bracelet with Swarovsky Crystals

Zigzag Peyote Stitch Bracelet with Swarovski Crystals

A fun way of creating some zigzag into your daily jewellery.  I have made it with a few beads added on. It will be wider than the pattern ask for to add on some lengths for a more dramatic bigger look it will then also fit wider writs.  At the same time string on less beads and the same Bracelet will become less wide and shorter for a smaller writs.  The Zigzag will work out to a finished look for you to add on the clasp.  This pattern is available at “That Bead Lady”.

Parasitoid Wasp

Parasitoid Wasp

This Wasp decided to take a rest on our house wall this summer.  What a site that was, no idea what this insect was.  Will it sting us with his big long tail?  Get the camera quickly…..take a picture and lets find out what it is?!

Luckily we have a great book that showed exactly that Insect “Parasitoid Wasp”

From what we read this Wasp is one of the most beneficial species that inhabit our gardens.  The females walk along tree trunks until they sense a vibration of a boring beetle within. Then, with extreme precision, the females acrobatically curl their abdomen, coil their long ovipositor and drive it through the bark and the inner wood, directly into the unsuspecting larva.  After laying an egg, the females pull out their ovipositor and continue hunting.

The weakened caterpillars become a buffet for the hunting wasp larva, which grows and feeds on the non-vital tissues first, saving the organs far last.

Sleeping Squirrel on the Fence

Sleeping Squirrel on the Fence

This was so sweet to see.  My Husband and I where just sitting in the backyard, enjoying a nice day, this past Summer in our Backyard.  When I spotted something sitting on the Fence tucked into the bushes.  As I looked closer….to my surprise it was a young Squirrel sleeping.  I grabbed our camera and snuck up to it as close as I could.  Again ….I was amazed that I was able to get to almost one meter to the Fence till the Squirrel got a little nervous.  This cute little Squirrel only then started to move.  I was able to take a lot of pictures and one even with it still sleeping.

Amazing Clouds before the Storm

This was a really windy afternoon on August 21st.2009. Clouds

The weather forecast called for tornado watch in our area and there was a Cloudetouchdown at a Horse Stable just outside our Town that day.

Clouds                                                Thunder clouds roared south and east  turning blue skies black in minutes, then lightning and torrents of rain. And just as suddenly, the rain moved on and left sun filtering through fire-red clouds.

What kind of a Ladybug are you?

All in Black
Quiz.....What is my Name?

Wow…..! Sometimes in the month of August out in our backyard I was surprised to see this wonderful black Ladybug with no spots on it.   It was just flying onto our Standard Willow Tree where I was sitting close by.  It is so unique in its colors that I still have not found out if this is norma027l to see a black Ladybug or if I was just lucky to spot it.

Ladybug in Black?
What is my Name?
