Sailing on Lake Simcoe

Beautiful night out with hubby sailing last night. Grassroots Sailing club boat called “Waterbaby” I totally love to open the boat up. Though I was a little nervous more so because it is just the 2 of us on the boat. It does go through my head what if he, the skipper in my case now my hubby gets knocked over board… would I remember how to do the COB … and that single handed? Which I have never done before….so last night I was happy he had the tiller in his hands and I therefore was able to take pictures as I helped with taking and jibbing.. perfect night…to enjoy each others company. ( PS one of the pictures has the boom and sail all worped… lol hand where shaking…haha.)

Lake Simco is wonderful to sail on and has some nice spots to see too. This is just in the Bay of Cooks Bay. Further North you come to Snake Island and Fox Island.

I have sailed all around Fox Island this past summer ( See slide above) on mentoring sail day on a Saturday. It took me (us) 2.5 hours to get from Cooks Bay Marina to Fox Island and that is with a good wind, I believe 12 Knots of wind… I tell you I loved it when the boat was healing over a lot more then the calm moments. What a thrill that was…

Sailing season is almost coming to it’s end…for now….sad.

Fall Cover Up

Just finished this quick cover up Poncho for Chloe. I hope this will fit her for some time. A thank You for a helping hand. Chloe’s “Grosi” is always so ready to help me in need. Thanks for being a friend.

This pattern is called Robin Poncho. You too can purchase this on Ravelry for your self. Or download on her blog http://www.mukicrafts.com as far as I know…

I had been given 5 skeins of yarn called “Sugar Baby Stripes” by Mary Maxim. Only used 2.5 for the size 6. Great yarn for this kind of job.

Needles At Work

….after some time not really having my knitting needles in my hand …. Just not sure why that happen. But for past 6 months I have kind of lost my desire for knitting.

Have You ever felt like that? You have a hobby that is your passion, all of a sudden You have no interest in it anymore?

Some of You may say ….Oh no! This is unheard off. My knitting has been part of my daily life.

Well I think this little poncho request has brought back some nice memories of knitting. And how good it feels to be creating something handmade.

Spring Moments By The Lake

April 2019 Lake Simcoe

Some of you probably know I have been going on drives to enjoy our Lake Simcoe here In Ontario, Canada. Usually with no destination in place. My truck just tales me somewhere to the water.

It’s absolutely beautiful to feel the wind in my hair. To listen to the waves crushing onto the shore.

There are different seasons I have seen up there.

Today I’ll show you how it was last April… Pretty windy and rather cold.. bust totally peaceful.

I’ll show you more warmer days soon too…. Sunshine all around now….

Canadian Tiger Swallowtail

Also known as Canadian Tiger Sallowtail….

Beautiful to see them flutter by… I honestly can say I was so happy to see this one flying around in my backyard. Have not seen one for so many years. We usually have the Monarch butterflies in our area.. but seeing this Yellow Tail butterfly made me happy…

I since have seen even a Black Swallowtail. But it zipped along so fast and not resting anywhere on my flowers a picture just was not possible….

Does anyone know if this one belongs to the monarch type Butterflies family?

Celebrating 35 Years Later

Hard to believe I have lived in Canada already 35 Years as of today… how time goes by. I remember stepping out of the Toronto Pearson International Airport … The heat was OHHH wow… overtaking my breath… +35 if I remember correctly.

My so called “Family” waiting with there 6 month old baby Jacqueline as well, lol…My name became “Jackie” for the next year. … as her Nanny.

I sometimes wonder what she is up too now?…Woodbridge has changes sooo much! It was all farm field at that time…If you are from Ontario .. Do you remember the Drive-In on Hyw 400?

Now movie Theaters and Malls and totally no farm field anymore….I am speechless at times…

Villa Park Dive ( lol I thought I am coming to life in a Villa…HAHAH was I wrong! ) was my home for less then a year… no so good ending to that family story…

Best times after that was finding a wonderful family in Downsview… So much love they have still for one another…. I am thankful for the Hazel’s they gave me a absolutely wonderful memory. Just wish I had kept in contact more…

However we all have our destinies we need to follow… and never say never. Look into the future it is never to late to reconnect…. and make new memories…..and new friends.

Thanks for being my friends for sooo many memories

Nothing Is Promised In This Live….

It is my moments to go for a drive and just drive …

Not to long ago on a Tuesday…

……no destination in mind usually.

My Pick up truck takes me along the county roads… I make sure I know how to back track my ways too. GPS yeah but my GPS is driving on a road that does’t exist most of the times … LOL

Honestly my truck has taken me to the Lake Simcoe lately … or to the smaller Churches around them. I was about to leave that church ground when something just pulled me over on my walks….

A Rose found just like that in the grounds… In Moments when I needed a sign…My Dad always loved roses… What are the odds of that…

Totally amazing to see the old grave stones and the beautiful doors and windows on the churches.

Florida In February

OMG hard to believe we left in this snow/ice storm on February 6th.

Has been already over a month ago that we where in Florida enjoying that sooooo beautiful sunshine every day by +24 to 28 and water at +16 . I was swimming in it every day on and on….just so perfect.

Sunset right by the beach every night…I am still looking for the star in that evening sky every night, my start always full of love and happy moments walking in the water looking for the shells. Even thought I could not bring home some of the coral that washed up on the shore…..nooo noooo you can’t do that!!

My fun moments taking pictures of birds flying by…or posing for me.

Smiles Yes  “I am a bigger kid then You thought I am” …smiles that is me. Always will be that way…That is my Life, my Love, my life of happiness.

More then I am That is me.

Sleeping on the balcony hearing the waves crushing onto the shore.

Seeing the stars and full moon.

Hearing the birds in the morning waking me up….My Dream always.

I’ll never forget that kind of feeling of Peace.

Jelly Roll Rug

2019-01-15 10.42.24So colourful, it make s me happy just looking at all the fun colours.

This Jelly Roll Rug is made with only 20 strips so half of a full Jelly Roll.

Typically the Jelly Rolls have 42-45 strips of 2.5″ in a roll at about $52 to $59 per roll. Then you will need the batting that you can use either the already cut into strips at 2.5″or you cut your strips from the meter cut batting available in most quilting stores. I used Aurafil Thread for this and a Jeans 14 Needle.

Off to the sewing and yes picture-taking I go and after a full 7 hours this was finished. Measuring 83 cm x 46 cm

The pattern comes in oval, round and in rectangle too. My first one I sewed up was really just a practice one with using up bits and pieces of fabrics I had stashed.

This one I just opened up the roll and sewn together as it was in the roll.Love this Australian fabric.

Happy Sewing.

Versatile Wave Purse

IMG_4904Totally love this purse idea as the name

“Versatile Wave”

indicates, one purse with many looks. Sew up one main inner bag and then just make several outer covers.

IMG_4917

With that said even with just one outer cover you can have 2 different looks. See my pictures, one is floral and the other is abstract print. Same main bag with two liners heach opposite.

Love how this designer “Susan Rooney” gives us this perfect written and illustrated  pattern.

With mine, I find that either the outer section could be sewn together with 1/4 ” seem  instead with 5/8″ as my inner main bag seem to be a slight bit too big for the outer cover.

Overall this pattern is well worth the purchase and creating Your “One Of A Kind” Purse… You should come and see me at my work place I can give you all the ideas on fabric selections if you need some help with that. I love to help you and be creative. Only promise is …Smile You have to come and show me the end result. Totally love to see it :-)

Oh and I forgot to say, You can also just use the inner bag to go into any other purse you have without ever having to transfer allll the may special items you carry along in you bag…LOL if your like me You will have many.

Dehydrated Tomates

IMG_4571

Love the rich red colour of these tomatoes.

It is all around us right now the ripe fruits and vegetables are an indication of the end of summer season.  Apples, peaches, pears, corn, cabbages and yes tomatoes.

I am luck to have this Holland Marsh  wetland close by well about 20 minutes driving distance from my home.  As per their website “Produce selections range from more traditional crops such as carrots, onions and celery, to more diverse options like Chinese broccoli, Asian radish, and water spinach”.  So a lot of the vegetables I believe are coming from there to our local store that I have right around my home.

I also have a knitting / sewing friend that grows carrots and onions right in Holland Marsh. Luck for me I have been getting a bag here and their from her and her husband. With the onions  I make this amazing yummy onion soup. Carrots are great for carrot cake or soup too.

So since yesterday I have been dehydrating 3 baskets full of tomatoes so my hubby can take them on his up-coming hike to  Munising Falls Michigan (Pictured Rocks) with his hiking friends.

Have a great September to all of you.

I may have to do the same with apples soon

Reaching Out To Fellow Bloggers

IMG_4166Just like many of you, I have been on WordPress for many years too.

And I was wondering if I could ask You for some input…

At the beginning lets say about 10 years ago, I started postings so my parents in Switzerland could see what I am working on here in Canada. Some of you may know I also posted each post in English and German to make it easy for them and German-speaking readers.
Since my dad past, I kind of stopped the German posting as one can switch to have it translated.

Unfortunately my mom doesn’t understand how to use the computer but enjoys to Skype with me.

So here is where I am reaching out to You.

I am doing pretty much what you are doing. Perhaps it is the topics that I am posting. Everyone loves food but not everyone can enjoy the knitting etc.
I used to comment and like a lot of other posts by Bloggers and WordPress post. With the Blogger sits I often had to do the posting over and over again as it just would not go through and needed all the passwords etc. found that very time-consuming, and often the comments did not go through. So I lost interest in doing this….sorry.
As well as it felt that I “liked” and “commented” but not really got any reply back…..

I know I should say oh well why do I worry about that?

Since I love to see your posts and like to show you my work and enjoy helping others..it is my passion to be creative.

But that doesn’t stop me from wondering sometimes what do fellow bloggers do to get the comments on sometimes a very simple post, or even just a picture and one sentance?
I don’t believe I have to pay for that or sign up with a services.

I believe my posts should be from what I believe in and how I see my KnitswissYarns Blog. So I just keep on doing what I love and have fun …..the passion continues…

Have a wonderful weekend and if by chance you feel like sending me some info where I can improve my posts …you know what to do….smiles send me a note.

I do care and I thank you for feedback…

Jacqueline
