Time to do something good for the community

So off to sewing placemats and two pillows. Several of our Special Needs Adult kids are volunteering their time at a Retirement Home in Aurora.

So I thought since I can’t help on sight, I could help out too and sew up some stuff for them to sell at the TuckShop….Lots of great fabric was donated for me to use. Thanks You !

Hopefull the TuckShop will have fun selling them too. More will come soon too….Though I hope this is a good start for now. Enjoy

With this TuckShop our Special Need Adult Volunteers learn so many great things…counting money, selling items, manage to be with others, teamwork, communicating with customers, listening to others….the list goes on and not to forget having some fun too.

Jelly Roll Bags

Yes out of one Jelly Roll Fabric bundle I have sewn up 4 of these wonderful spring-summer take along bags.

Perfect for going to the beach, or just carry along your necessary items. Perhaps your project bag for your knitting or crocheting…you name it just a overall handy little bag to have.

I found this free pattern on Shabby Fabric.com I am in love with her tutorials on YouTub. Very clear instructions and easy to follow too.

Now the only problem I have is I love them all and can’t decide the one I will keep….

Eine ideale Tasche für zum Strand, oder auch nur so schenll zum Kaffe zu gehen und nur das Notwendigste mit zu bringen. Ja natürlich auch eine perfect Projekttasche für das Stricken oder Häkeln …

Ich fand dieses kostenlose Muster bei “Shabby Fabric.com” So viele tolle YouTube Tutorials fand ich dort. Sehr klare Anweisungen und leicht zu folgen.

Nun habe ich ein problem…lach welche Tasche soll ich für mich selber behalten…..

Log Cabin Quilt

Finally I decided to piece this Log Cabin quilt together. I have had this fabric for over two years in my stash….sounds familiar to You? The pattern is called “Fields of Furrows” All together 36 blocks in 10 hours …huwww. Done.

Then sewing it all into one big Queen size piece by piece. Smiles, it would not go without a hickup….I had it all placed correct and still was able to sew one strip wrong so the howl section looked off. Undo my stitching and back together the right way…in no time.

Now just have to get the batting backing and I have lots of fabric left so may even do something fun for the backing with all that extra fabric instead of buying more fabric. then the Quilting…..chat soon again. Have a great week

Entlich entschloss ich mich, diese Blockhauskabine Quilt zusammenzusetzen. Hatte den Stoff schon bals zwei Jahre in meinem Kasten, doch dass kennt Ihr sicher auch…. Das Muster heißt “Fields of Furrows”. Ganze 36 Blöcke in 10 Stunden … huwww. Erledigt.

Dann nähte ich alle in einem großen Queen-Size-Stück für Stück. Lächelt, es geht ja nicht ohne ein hickup …. Ich hatte alle korrekt platziert und doch kam es dazu dass ich tatsächlich immer noch einen Streifen falsch zusammen nähte. So hiess es auftrennen und wieder richtig zusammen Nähen … in kürzester Zeit.

Jetzt muss ich nur die Batting kaufen. Für die Rückseite da binn ich noch nicht sicher da ich noch viel Stoff vor habe. Vielleicht mach ich damit noch die Rückseite.. mal sehen es muss ja nicht sein das ih noch mehr Stoff kaufe dazu. Dann die Quilting ….. bald wieder chatten. Wünsche Euch allen eine großartige Woche…

ZENTANGLE SELF PORTRAIT

A Portrait of mine all done on my sewing machine. Wow this took 12 hours to finish and look at this. Cool I think.

Our class teacher Ana Paula Brasil is really fantastic and with so much spunk. However I was not so sure about drawing my face or anyones face for that matter. Really don’t like drawing faces. Rather landscapes, mountains or sit by a pond peaceful quiet places you know…. Faces and people are not quiet. I know that is just what I think…

This next part though is AMAZING! You get to draw with your sewing machine and create a picture all by filling in the blank spots…..Really love this part of the project, I could do this all over again. Now what to do with this is the big question. Perhaps I use it as a panel for a quilt.

Ein Portrait von mir, alles mit meine Nähmaschine genäht. Wow ganze 12 Stunden war ich dabei, dieses zu beenden.

Unsere lehrerin Ana Paula Brasil ist wirklich fantastisch und mit so viel Mumm. Allerdings war es mir nicht so drum mein Gesicht von einem Bild zu zeichnen. Paste mir gar nicht! Zeichne viel lieber Landschaften, Berg oder sitz bei einem Teich dort wo es ruhige ist. Menschen und Gesichter sind nicht ruhig. Na ja so denke ich.

Dieser nächste Teil ist aber echt Toll! Jetzt darf ich mit der Nähmaschine alle lehre Teile ausfüllen und ein Bild herstellen! ….. wirklich lieben diesen Teil des Projekts. Fertig! ganze 12 stunden brauchte das…so was soll ich damit machen, ist die große Frage. Vielleicht benutze ich es als eine Teile für eine Steppdecke….

“A little Birdie Told Me” -Baby Quilt

Sooo sweet ….perfect little gift for a Baby Shower.

All finished up in less than 3 days…cut, pinned, sewn all around the bunny, “Bambi”, birdhouses, fox and along the tree/trunk ….So much fun.

Sue really enjoyed sewing this one up quickly for You. Thanks for the honours.

Used a homespun fabric for the back…..Love, love, Love this panel. Really hope we get some more of this panel for Northcott in as this quilt already has found a home….Little sweet baby Boy hope you keep warm and snugly once You arrive to your wonderful World….

Sooo süß …. perfektes kleines Geschenk für eine Baby Welcoming Party.

Alle fertig in weniger als 3 Tagen … Schnitt, gemerkt, genäht ganzen Hase, “Bambi”, hunnypots an der Baum …. So viel Spaß. Ich benutzte einen homespun Stoff für die Rückseite ….. Liebe, Liebe, Liebe dieses Panel. Nun hoffe ich wir werden noch mehr von den Stoff bekommen da dieser Quilt schon jemanden gehört. Kleiner sweetheart hoffe dieser Quilt wird auch dich warm halten wenn du in die Welt kommst….

Progress On My X-Mas Quilt

So changed my pattern up a bit. Removed the top strip with the cars off and worked several borders around it as I liked it. Then cut out many cars and added them by sewing them on top of the quilt. Now ready to be quilted ….

I think this one is not bad for doing it all on my own with no pattern…

So änderte mein Muster ein wenig von dem ersten versuch. Trente den oberen Streifen mit den Autos ab und nähte noch ein paar verschiedene Stoffe rings herum, einfach so wie ich dachte das es gut aussieht. Einige Autos wurden dann ausgeschnitten und hinzu gefügte. Indem ich diese auf der Oberseite des Quilts annähte. Nun muss ich nur noch den richtigen hintergrund finden und los geht es mit dem Quilten…

Ich denke, bis jetzt ist es nicht schlecht ist für dass ich alles alleine ohne Muster her gezaubert habe. …

Rainy Day Sewing

What to do on a rainy day?

Well it truly has been a long time since we had a good rain here in the Upper York Region of Ontario. I have enjoyed the hot summer so far, but some rain is definitely welcomed today.

So home I was and normally I would do my everyday stuff and once that is done I do enjoy some knitting. But today I thought lets change this up and sewing away.

Yesterday at my workplace “The Quilt Store” I could not resist buying one of the panels I sold to a customer. Just have to make one too. Soooo sweet and great for both bay or girl.

Fabric by : Northcott Fabrics “A Little Birdie Told Me” But wait I already have all this christmas prints at home. Got to finish this one too. Hope you visit soon again, I’ll show you the both quilts once they are all done and ready to cuddle up in…Enjoy a wonderful week and Thanks for visiting my Blog. Always love your comments…Cheers

Was macht man an einem regnerischen Tag? Nun, es ist sicher schon lange her seit es bei uns geregnet hat hier in Upper York Region von Ontario. Obwohl ich den heißen Sommer bisher geniesse, aber etwas Regen wird auf jeden Fall heute begrüßt.

Normaly würde ich meine alltäglichen Dinge zuerst fertig bringen und dann geht es los mit dem Stricken….Lach kann nicht nur herum hocken und nichts machen…

Heute dachte ich jetzt wird genäht. Konnte es nicht unterlassen selber auch ein Pannel von den herzigen Kinderstoff zu kaufen den ich einer Kundin empfohlen hatte beim “The Quilt Store”. Aber warte Ich habe ja auch noch Weihnachts Stoff gekauft den ich schon etwas zusammen genäht habe….loss gehts heute weiter nähen….

Homespun Rag Quilt

Yes new Homespun fabric has arrived at “The Quilt Store” where I work…

Love the colours and I have to tell you the Homespun is one of my favourite fabrics by far.

Well next to the batik. But with batik you can’t make a rag quilt…So this Homespun is a perfect weight for a spring or summer evening cuddle quilt sitting by the fire camping or in your backyard.

You too can sew this up in no time.

I was kind of thinking of making a longer rag wrap quilt for me to put over my shoulders in the evenings…but really need to get some headway with some of my knitting too.

All you need is half a meter of 6 colours each.

Cut them into 6″ squares (my front and back are the same fabric) then deco stitch a “X” with any fancy stitch you like onto the 6″square. Sew them all in a pleasing way together with a 1/2″ sem . I had 6 squares by 9 squares as you can see in the picture or at the store.

For the edging you need about 1.20 meters of one colour cut them into 5″ stripes and fold in half. This amount was based on the length 9 squares that now are only 5″ due to the 1/2″ seam. I sewed the edge onto the 9 square length first then the 5 square edge.

Cut the fringes and off to the wash…Please make sure once you put this into the drier you empty the filter about every 3-5 minutes believe me it will be full of lint.

“OH CANADA”

was hoping to find a jellyroll with all Swiss prints on the fabric…but my time back home in Switzerland did not allow it. So decided to just make this the quilt it is now.

My Canadian Quilt.

With the hope one day I will find that jellyroll of Swiss prints too.

Thank you Ursula for once again helping me quilt my quilt and for our great Swiss friendship. Du bisch min Goldschatz!

Dieser Quilt “OH CANADA” gefält mir recht gut. War auf der Suche nach einem Jellyroll Stoff bedruckt mit Schweizer Motiven …aber meine Zeit dazu war zu kurtz. So beschloss ich nun diesen Quilt fertig zu nähn. Meine Kanadischer Quilt. In der Hoffnung, dass ich eines Tages doch noch so etliche Schweizer Motiven Stoff finden werde.

Danke Ursula für wie immer mir deine Hilfe anzubieten damit ich meine Steppdecke fertig quilten kann und für unsere Schweizer Freundschaft. Du bist mein Goldschatz!

Oh Canada Quilt

Oh this one is in the works since this morning. Thought after a day’s work at the store I have to be productive and work on my stash of fabric for a change. So here is the beginning of this

“OH CANADA”

After 2 1/2 hours of sewing the fabric pieces together I now have to get batting and the backing and quilt it too. But not today as it is nice I really should go work in my backyard a little…

So see you soon with the finished Quilt.

Oh, dieses ist in den Werken seit heute Morgen. Dachte nach einem Tag Arbeit dass auch ich etwas mehr produktiv sein könnte und an meinem Vorrat von Stoff etwas ändern könnte. Hier ist also der Beginn dieses “OH CANADA” lab Quilt.

So nach 2 1/2 Stunden Stoff zusammen nähen ist die Oberflähe fertig geworden …nun gehts los mit der Batting und dem Hintergrund und quilten. Aber nicht Heute! Da es schön ist draussen ist sollte ich doch auch noch etwas im Garten tun….Lach

So bis bald mit der fertigen Decke dann….

Colourful Scarfs

So yes I am learning to use my Bernina Serger 800DL. Thought I’ll try to use it with this knit fabric and try using the Flatlock Stitch. Kind of getting the hang of it but really if I look at this video mine looks to lose …. doing something not right I think. Of to try it again… not giving up. I know I can do this.

But either way I like how the scarfs turned out anyways. Fun for the spring with lots of colours. I just have a hard time deciding on the one I will keep for myself…smiles.

Lach genau so ist es, ich bin dran meine neue BERNINA 800DL Serger in den Griff zu bekommen.. . So versuchte ich noch nicht so lange mit einem Strickstoff zu nähen. “Flatlock Naht”. Doch wenn ich das Video anschaue ist meine Naht etwas weiter auseinander….. vielleicht mach ich da etwas nicht richtig. Los gehts es wieder… nicht aufgeben, es kommt schon noch dass ich das lerne.

Aber auf jeden Fall die Schalls die ich hier genäht habe gefallen mir eigentlich recht gut. So schön farbig für den Frühling. Doch welchen behalte ich für mich selber…….

Table-Runners

File 2016-04-07, 3 53 07 PM Fast and easy to sew up. With just one Charm Pack of Moda Autumn Woods and one meter for backing and Fusible Thermolam I was able to sew up Two Table-Runner for a smaller table.

No pattern needed just sew 3 squares together in length. Repeat this for all squares.

Then sew them together so you will get 7 strip long runner. You will have a runner 3 squares high and 7 squares long.

Now iron the fusible Thermolam to the back of the runner.

Once that is done use a decorative stitch over the seamed straight lines or do free motion quilting throughout the runner..up to You. Now I clipped each corner off so I have a triangle there this way the runner looks a little more refined. File 2016-04-07, 3 52 45 PM

Now sew backing onto the right side of runner but leave an opening so you can turn inside out. Iron flat and sew open spot shout top-stitch all around edge with a 1.4 inch seam.

voila all done.

I did buy this Charm Pack at my workplace The Quilt Store Fall 2014 but you can sew this one up with any fabric or charm pack. Just have fun and be creative….. File 2016-04-07, 3 52 31 PM

Schnell und einfach zum Nähen. Mit nur einem Charm Pack von Moda Herbst Wald und ein Meter für die hintere Seite und anschmelzbare Thermolam konnte ich zwei Tisch-Läufer fertig nähen. Kein Muster benötigte ich dazu

Nähe 3 Quatrate in der Länge nach zusammen. Tu das für all Quadrate. Nun Nähe 7 Längen zusammen damit Du einen Läufer hast der 3 Quadrate hoch ist und 7 Quadrate lang ist.. Jetzt mit dem Glett-Eisen den Thermolam an der Rückseite des Läufers anbüglen.

Nun auf der Vorderseite des Läufers mit einem dekorativen Schtich der geraden Naht entlang näht oder mit Frei Hand quilten über den Läufer. Hier hatte ich die Ecken abgeschnitten damit es etwas sanfter aussieht als nur ein Rechteck.

Nun die Rückseite annähen, dabei beide rechten Seiten (schöne Seite) zusammen auflegen und zusammen Nähen. Dabei etwa 15cm offen lassen so das Du die rechte Seite hinaus falten kanst. Nun Büglen und Öffnung zusammen nähen. Den ausseren Rand mit einem 5mm vom Rand Saum umnähen. Voila fertig bist Du.

Some new thing

and oh how much fun I have already.

Hubby and I learned how to thread it one evening last week. Really much easier than I thought! We looked at a YouTube videos. I get it now, Yehhh !!! Off I go….

So today I figured out how to do the “Rolled Hem” it creates a beautiful edge for Napkins and much more. Now I just need more Ideas what to sew up next???

Etwas neues gibt es bei mir Zuhause….”Bernina Serger 800 DL” und Servietten, viel Spaß hatte ich bereits schon heute Morgen.

Mein Mann und ich lernten zusammen, wie sie (Serger) eingefädelt wird. Wirklich viel einfacher als ich dachte, wir schauten es nach bei einem YouTube Video. Ich verstehe es jetzt, Yuhui!!! Los gehts….

So heute Morgen ging es los mit dem “Rollsaum” schaut Euch die Servietten an die entstanden sind ….Toll was man so alles Nähen kann und so schnell…..Nun brauche ich nur Ideen was ich naechsten Machen kÖnnte???

Placemats For A Softer Look

Placemats for a softer Look is a little twist to my everyday go to Pattern. I decided to cut the squares into rectangles and then sew them to the squares…oh did not think that now I have not the same dimensions as the squares are. It needs a little adjustments in cutting my squares next time. I get it. Still love it everybody needs to learn from their errors. Smiles Debbie S. I have to attend your classes I know!

Blueberry Park by Robert Kaufman is a Great fabric for many wonderful projects. Sure have a look at the many great natural colours…at The Quilt Store for four placemats you will need 3 fabrics at 20″ x 42″ and about 39″x 42″ for the backing and your one sided Fusible Thermolam

also 39″ …..and volia just start cutting ….

Tischsets für ein sanftes Aussehen hier eine kleine Wendung zu meinem Täglichen Muster. Ich beschloss, die Quadrate in Rechteck zu schneiden nur hatte ich nicht damit gerechnet das diese nun etwas klein sind als die Quadrate. Muss da kleine Anpassungen machen beim Quadrate schneiden das nächsten Mal. Na ja jeder muss lernen aus den Fehlern….lach Ja Debbie S. muss bei Dir in den Unterricht gehen.

Nimm einen Blick auf die vielen natürlichen Farben… für 4 Tischsets benötigst Du 3 Stoffe bei 50cm auf 1,10 Meter und 1 Meter für den Hintergrund und einen ” Thermolam” (leider habe ich keine Ahnung wie das auf Deutsch Heisst? )

Placemats for Valentine’s Day

Oh if you have followed my blog you know I love this pattern for my placemats. They just work perfect for our kitchen Island…..and some Swiss “Schoggi” Chocolate!!!

I tell you it is hard to see all this gorgeous fabric come into The Quilt Store where I work.

I do love putting the ohh so many colour combos for the quilts or other projects together…. For myself I tend to work on smaller projects at this time. Really love the modern feel of some quilts we are getting in too.

Hope I can work on a table runner that I really want to piece together soon too. But have to finish a view knitting projects first too.

Tischsets zum Valentinstag

Na ja wenn Du mein Blog liest, dann weisst Du sicher das ich dieses Muster für meine Tischsets immer wieder brauche. Pass immer perfect in meine Küche!

Doch muss ich mich immer zusammen nehmen damit ich nicht zu viel Stoff ein kaufe bei dem Geschäft wo ich arbeite “The Quilts Shop”. Na ja ich bevorzuge aber immer noch das Stricken!

Doch habe ich auch Spass mit den Farbkombinationen für Steppdecken zusammen zu stellen. Doch für mich selber passt es mir besser kurze Näharbeiten zusammen zu nähen.

Wenn ich dann hoffentlich bald etwas mehr Zeit habe wird es dann einmal einen Tischläufer sein.
