Sure I know it has already gone by, my trip back home to Möhlin in Switzerland and now I am already back home in Canada. Thought I still like to show you some of the time I had been able to spend back in my hometown.
School Girlfriend visits first day of my stay. So nice to see you Silvia!…Unbelievable but we have not seen each other for at least 35 years.
For the past view days we had everything covered in Ice.
Trees, branches, bushes and yes cars too. Whatever was outside was covered in a layer of 1-2 inches of Ice.
It sure looks pretty, but lots of damage it can bring too. Do I shake the ice off the cedars or not was the question at one time? Well one of my tree was not able to carry the weight and did fall over…
Today is a big melt and the sun is shining so bright. With the backyard door open a tad bit is really neat to hear all the sounds outside. Sound of rain though it is the ice melting, birds tweeting, Ice crashing from the trees and branches shifting back to the normal place. With a lot less weight on them.
The sun makes it all sparkle and glistening like in a fairytale world
In den letzten Tagen hatten wir alles mit Eis bedeckt. Bäume, Äste, Sträucher und ja auch die Autos. Was draußen war, wurde in eine Schicht von 5-10cm Eis bedeckt.
Schön sieht es schon aus, aber viel Schaden bringt es auch. Soll” ich das Eis von den Zweigen schütteln oder nicht war die Frage auf einmal. Auch einer meiner Baum war nicht in der Lage, das Gewicht zu tragen und fiel auf den Boden…
Heute kommt die große Schmelzung, die Sonne scheint so hell und bring die Wärme das Eis zu schmelzen. Mit der Tür ein bisschen offen höre ich alle Arten von Gereusche. Mann Könnte meinen er Regnet, schmelzen Ice , Vögel zwitschern, Eis kracht von den Bäumen und Ästen wieder auf eine Eis schichte die noch am Boden ist.
Die Sonne verzaubert alles im Funkeln und Glitzern wie in einer Märchenwelt
Boyne Valley Provincial Park is part of the Bruce Trail.
Where I only have gone on two hikes with my Hubby. He and his friends have almost completed all of the Bruce Trail that goes all the way from Niagara, Ontario to Tobermory
a small community located at the northern tip of the Bruce Peninsula in the municipality of Northern Bruce Peninsula. It is 300 km northwest of Toronto.
So he has only two or three hikes that he needs to still walk and with it being so nice and warm on this past Thanksgiving Monday. The opportunity to go and hike the 15 km in this Boyne Valley was just perfect. Off I went on a perfect day together with my Hubby.

I should be outside in the garden
cleaning up but decided to finish a view of my unfinished sewing projects. Well kind of finished, as for the quilt, need to add batting and backing and quilt it next.
I started a class at my workplace “The Quilt Store”
“Remembering Grandma” well mine was the “Morning Star” but it did not go as planed so changes it to “Remembering Grandma” with opening up a view seems and making it work. Looks nice now too and I am happy this way too.
The Pillow just needs some stuffing and two buttons and sewing it closed and voila. What a great idea to used up fabric I had stashed in my home…
I think I have a new favourite ” Dresden Plate” love this idea. I think I’ll work on the bag next and maybe the table runner….
My work has just received soooooo much more fabric last week!
Where will we put it all is always the question when it arrives.
And yes it is impossible not to buy some from time to time too.
So I decided to make 6 new Nine Patch Placemats in gold, silver and black . The front is all the same but the backing is as you can see, gold, black or with Christmas ornament print.
I also bought this gorgeous red, silver and white Holiday print fabric. I could not resit it…smiles
Now I have to decide if I make 6 more in the red, silver and white or I make a table runner with that fabric.
Bie meiner Arbeit hatten wir diese Woche tausende von Metern neuen Stoff erhalten.
Wo werden wir diesen Stoff wieder hinstellen…sooo viel kommt immer. Rollen und noch mehr Rollen von Stoff.
Und ja, es ist unmöglich dann nicht auch ab und zu auch einen Meter oder so zu kaufen.
Also beschloss ich 6 neue “Nine Patch Tischsets” in Gold, Silber und Schwarz zu nähen. Die vorterseite aind alle sechs gleiche. Doch die Hinterseite ist bei zweien gold, zwei in schwarz und zwei mit Weihnachts Kugeln.
Dazu hatte kommte auch dieser sagenhafte schöne roter, silbernen und weißen Stoff mit Weihnachts Print nach Hause.
Jetzt muss ich mich nur entscheiden, ob ich 6 weitere Tischsets oder ein Tischläufer mit diesem Stoff nähen soll.

This city is a must see …..
I love the tropical feel one get when entering to the south of Switzerland.
Palm trees are a welcome sight. If you like watches and jewellery you better put your walled away. The Glitz, Glam and sparkles are amazing and so are the prices.
You have to see the butcher shops…wow! I even seen a show maker …He was very happy to have me take a picture too. My eyes opened up wide when I seen the spaghetti noodles at one meters long.
Walking by the waterfront, just perfect with all the hustle and bustle of the young and old walking or sitting by the waterfront.
I love all the small allies that lead from out Hotel to the Lake. So special to be able to show this to my son.

Sonnig, warm und ja Musik. Zuerst dachte ich, es ist immer so. Musik beim See? Dann sahen wir die großen Leinwand direkt am See Ahhh natürlich “FIFA Soccer Night” ist ja am laufen.
Diese Stadt muss man besuchen wenn man in der Schweiz ist.
Ich liebe die tropische Atmosphäre in der Süde-Schweiz. Palmen sind ein willkommener Anblick.
Wenn Du nach einer Uhr oder Schmuck suchst, das musst Du den Geldpeutel hervor nehme! Glitz, Glam funkelt fast jeder Laden und so auch die Preise.
Ja die Metzgereien, so viel Fleish das immer auch in den Fenstern hängt. Sogar ein Schuhmacher freute sich das ich ihn Fotographierte. Meine Augen öffnete breit, ein Meter lange Spaghetti Nudelns.
Am See spazieren zu gehen,einfach perfekt mit dem juble und trubel von Jung und Alt. Ich liebe all die kleinen “Gässlein”, die von unserem Hotel zum See führen. Und all das durfte ich meinem Sohn zeigen. Ihm hat es hier glauv=be ich am Besten Gefalle. So blieben wir noch etwas länger.
Our Switzerland trip continues from Tirano,Italy to Lugano,Switzerland though the Valtellina Valley by bus.
A wine region of Italy, Valtellina has been a wine-producing area for more than 2000 years .The vineyards are all on the hillsides of this Valley.
Truly a fantastic bus trip. Especially when you see how narrow, curvy and winding the roads are once you get closer to Lugano. Yes those bus driver know how to get you from Tirano to Lugano nice and safe. You have to see the video I too.

But have a look…we had a quick stop at “Comune Di Sorico” have a look at where they where selling local cheese and dried meat. I am sad I did not bring any back to my brother. Sorry…Sooo cool I thought. I would have bought some but we still had a two days to travel and no way to keep it. Love the Bell tower in this village

Usere Schweizer Reise geht weiter von Tirano, Italien nach Lugano, Schweiz.
Durch das Valtellina-Tal mit dem Bus. Eine Weinregion von Italien, Valtellina ist schon für mehr als 2000 Jahren ein Wein Gebiet. Die Weinbergen sind alle auf den Hängen des Tals.
Wirklich eine fantastische Busfahrt. Vor allem, wenn man sieht, wie eng, kurvig und wendend die Straßen sind, wenn Du näher nach Lugano kommst. Ja, die Busfahrer wissen, wie Sie von Tirano nach Lugano ihre Gäste sicher ans Ziel bringen.

Aber schaut… wir hatten einen kurzen Aufenthalt in “Comune Di Sorico” hier kann man von einen kleinem Camper einheimischer Käse und getrocknete Würste kaufen. Ich bin traurig, ich hatte es verpasst meinem Bruder so etwas nach Hause zu bringen. Sorry…das nächste Mal dann.

Switzerland trip part 4
The terminal station at the south end of the Bernina Railway. When you arrive in Tirano from Switzerland with the Bernina Express you drive right past the historic “The Madonna di Tirano” dating back to the 1504.
A town in Valtellina, in the province of Sondrio, Northern Italy. It has about 9,044 inhabitants and is adjacent to the Switzerland – Italy boundary.
Departed the Bernina Express later in the afternoon we immediately started looking for a Hotel.
I had forgotten that in Europe lots of Restaurants close their kitchen till 6 or 7 pm so no supper till then… So we decided to go sight-seeing.

Wir sind in einer malerischen alt Stadt namens
Die Endstation am südlichen Ende der Berninabahn. Wenn Du von der Schweiz mit dem Bernina-Express ankommst,
fährt die Bahn gerade bei der historischen “The Madonna di Tirano” aus dem 1504 vorbei. Gleich als wier von der Bernina ExpressBahn ausstiegen, fragten wie nach Hotels für eine Nacht. Glücklich waren wir das Hotel Corona mit guten Preise, saubere Zimmer und freundliches Personal gefunden zu haben das auch in der Nähe von dern Bahn ist.
Ich hatte vergessen, dass in Europa viele Restaurants die Küche, bis 18:00 oder 19:00 Uhr schliessen.So kein Abedessen bis dann …
Also beschlossen wir etwas herum zu laufen und die Gegend an zu sehen. Alte Gebäude, kleine Straßen, sehr alte Türen, ein Stein Badewanne draussen wo das Wasser aus dem Berg durchfliesst.
Wirklich eine sehr historische Stadt. Aber eine, die eine sehr befahrene Hauptstraße hat die aus dem Süden Italiens, die Waren in die Schweiz bringt.
Oh habe das doch fast fergessen. Gelato die Glasse von Italien ..und ich habe das ganz verpassed zum schlecken…ja nun muss ich noch einmal nach Italien gehen. Ja der” Chianti” auch eine Spezialität von Italien. Oh und die fahren mit ihrne Autos sogar auf dem Fussgängern Wegen. Lustig das zu sehen…
The Bernina Express is one of the most spectacular Alpine crossing
Off we go to the South of Switzerland by train. We left Möhlin, a village in the North of Switzerland next to the Rhein River, very early in the am as you can see low-lying fog. We took the train to Chur.
Here we stepped on to the Bernina Express train. Through 55 tunnels and across 196 bridges and from Chur-Tirano travel time 4.05 hours, the train weaving its way behind the Bernina Hospiz (2253 metres) through the Poschiavo Valley into Valtellina in Italy.
Many highlight awaited us. Near Filisur, the train traverses an awe-inspiring landmark – the 65-metre-high Landwasser viaduct.

A trip one has to go and take if you visit Switzerland. I was wishing for blue sky so we could see the mountains…overcast for most of the day though.
luckily for us just as we arrived at “Alp Grüm” for about 10 minutes it cleared up, long enough for us to look around and take some pictures of the
….How lucky I have to say!
We continued our adventure over the Brusio spiral viaduct, really this is fantastic.
…Endstation! All had to get off in Tirano, Italy. Yes we are in Italy now.
Gorgeous older town I will post some more about this later in Part 4…soon I promise.
Es geht los in den Süden der Schweiz mit dem Zug. Wir verließen Möhlin, das Dorf liegt direkt neben dem Rhein im Norden der Schweiz,. Sehr früh am Morgen ging es schon los, bei tief liegende Nebel nahm wir den Zug nach Chur.
Hier gings weiter mit den Bernina-Express. Durch 55 Tunnel und über 196 Brücken, der Zug ging seinen Weg hinter dem Bernina-Hospiz (2253 m) durch das Poschiavo-Tal in Valtellina in Italien. Wunderschöne Asblicke erwarteten uns. In der Nähe von Filisur, durchquert der Zug eine beeindruckendes Wahrzeichen – das 65 Meter hohen Landwasserviadukt. Vorbei an dem eindrucksvollen Morteratsch-Gletscher.
Eine Reise wert wenn Du die Schweiz besuchst. Ich wünschte für blauen Himmel damit wir die Berge sehen könnten…Doch war es bedeckt für ein teil des Tages. Glück für uns, für etwa 10 Minuten bei “Alp Grüm” wiechen dir Wolken ab. Lange genug für uns, um Fotos von der Piz Palü-Gletscher zu nehmen. Wir setzten unsere Abenteuer weiter über den Kreisviadukt Brusio, wirklich das ist fantastisch.
Endstation …! Alle mussten in Tirano, Italien aussteigen. Ja, wir sind jetzt in Italien. Wunderschöne Dorf oder Stadt werde etwas mehr darüber zeigen später im Teil 4 von unserer drei Tages Reise.
If you do visit Bad Säckingen you have to go inside Fridolinsmüster for sure.
The Fridolinsmünster is the landmark of the city of Bad Säckingen and is dedicated to St. Fridolin of Säckingen consecrated (→ Fridolin Church), which dates back to this area and founded several monasteries. The Fridolinsmünster was the collegiate church of the convent Säckingen and is still the main church of the Catholic community of Bad Säckingen. The monastery church was built in Romanesque style, built in the 14th century after a fire in the Gothic style and rebuilt in the 17th and 18th centuries, with elements of the Baroque style.
Das Fridolinsmünster ist das Wahrzeichen der Stadt Bad Säckingen und ist dem heiligen Fridolin von Säckingen geweiht (→Fridolinskirche), der aus dieser Gegend stammt und verschiedene Klöster gründete. Das Fridolinsmünster war die Stiftskirche des Damenstift Säckingens und ist heute die Hauptkirche der katholischen Gemeinde Bad Säckingens.
Die Klosterkirche wurde im romanischen Stil erbaut, im 14. Jahrhundert nach einem Brand im gotischen Stil wieder errichtet und im 17. und 18. Jahrhundert mit Elementen des Barockstils erneuert.
Yes I am still knitting even if it is summer….why not. I just use different yarns like cotton, linen, or some blends of bamboo etc.
Some say, my knitting travels everywhere with me. Even on a train ride up to the Bernia Pass in Switzerland.
Well it came along, but I never had time to take them out. Sooo busy taking lots of pictures.
Though I started this light and airy top in Switzerland and finished it this week. Only used 3.5 skeins of Cascade Sunseeker yarn and a 4.5mm.
This pattern from “Verena Summer 2014” is really simple and one could easily work it in a different stitch pattern too.Though I had to modified it a little due to the yarn I used. Just one big rectangle and then sewn together ind a view unique places for neck, arm and waist opening. Voila all ready to wear.
Even would be fun to crochet something like this one day…perhaps for a class.
Ja, ich bin immer noch am stricken, auch wenn es Sommer ist …. Man kann ja auch mit verschiedenen Garnen im Sommer stricken wie: Baumwolle, Linen, oder auch Bambus.
Einige sagen, mein Strickzeug reist überall mit mir. Selbst auf unserer Zugfahrt über den Bernia Pass in der Schweiz. Sicher kam es mit, aber Zeit dafür hatte ich keine. Es gab so viel zu sehen und Fotos gabe es etliche. Lach!
Ja angefangen habe ich mit diesem Luftiger Pulli in der Schweiz. Nur 3,5 Stränge von Cascade Sunseeker Garn und eine 4,5 mm benötigt dieser Pulli. Das Muster ist wirklich einfach und leicht zu arbeiten, auch ein anderes Stichmuster könnte man
dazu verwenden.
Nur ein großes Rechteck und dann zusammengenäht in verschieden Orten für Hals-, Arm-und Taillenöffnung. Voila bereit zum Tragen. Auch würde es Spaß machen, so etwas zu häkeln vielleicht perfect für ein Klasse.
It truly is always nice to come back Home to Switzerland even if only for a short visit.

A trip back home this time to honor the Life of my Grandmother that passed away at 100 Years. Some say I will be that old one day too…wow if that is the case I have half her age now
I know we always have to see so much and visit all my friends and family. The time really goes by way to quick. On our visit just last week, took us across the Rhein River, Bad-Säckingen Germany, Chur, Bernina Pass, Tirano (Italy), Lugano, Locarno, Visp, Bern, back home to Moehlin
Breathtaking I have to say….wait till you see the pictures we took….lol, Almost 1500…crazy you may say, but I just had too!
For this post I will show you some of the pictures I and my son have taken in my hometown.
Es ist wirklich immer schön, wieder einmal nach Hause in die Schweiz zu kommen. Wenn auch nur für einen kurzen Besuch.
Besser kurz als nie sage ich.
Dieses mal kommen wir Nachhause um das lange Leben meiner Grossmutter zu Anerkennen und Danke zu sagen.
Sie hatte ganze 100 Jahre mit uns sein dürfen.
Es gibt immer so viel zu sehen. So kommen auch immer viele Einladungen von Familien und Freunden wieder zu sehen.
Es geht wirklich immer viel zuschnell vorbei. Auf userem letzten Besuch letzte Woche, hatten wir etliches zu sehen bekommen.
Atemberaubend wie immer…eine Reise in die Bergwelt nach Tirano, Lugano, Locarno und zurück nach Möhlin…mit kleineren Tages ausflügen

I’m amazed at how big the fruit grows here in Switzerland.
I could not believe how big the fruit was in the “Tessin” the south of Switzerland the figs where twice the since we have in Ontario
Snowshoeing for my first time this past weekend with my hubby and having a wonderful time together.
Tiffin Conservation Park is just about 20 minutes outside Barrie. Yes how could I not take my camera along… perfect day for lots of great pictures and spending time together. Treasured every moment of it…
We came across some wonderful ponds that have been frozen over. A father with is kids where playing hocky on the frozen part ..further down from them, where two ducks enjoying the open streams.
Tiffin Conservation Park is also having “The Spring Tonic Maple Syrup Festival” coming up in April.
So in some of the pictures you can see they are taping the Maple trees already for the sugar run…nothing flowing yet…still to cold.
At one point we did wander off the main track>>> We have snowshoes so why stay on the track. Wooo…all I say to my hubby “Do you know what that could be?” Let’s go!!! I am not waiting around to see…but I had to take two quick pictures….you can tell me if you think the same as I do. Could this be a winter bear den, what do you think?
Later on as we moved on, we came across some really neat winter survival huts. I would guess they been put up by he staff working at Tiffin for the “Maple Syrup Festival”. Really cool, we just could not resist to try them out. Some where all covered up by snow which gives it more warmth I would think.
What a wonderful and happy Sunday I had with my hubby…looking forward to going soon again.
Gestern Sonntag bin ich mit meinem Mann das erste mal Schneeschuhwandern gegangen und hatten eine wunderbare Zeit zusammen.
“Tiffin Conservation Park” ist nur etwa 20 Minuten außerhalb von Barrie. Ja,natürlich konnte ich meine Kamera nicht zu hase lassen … ein perfekter Tag für viele tolle Bilder. Ich schätze doch jeden schönen genütlichen Moment mit meinem Ehemann verbringen zu können.
Wir stießen auf einige wunderbare Teiche an, die ein Teil zugefroren sind. Ein Vater war mit Kinder am hocky spielen. Etwas weiter unten von ihnen, wo das Wasser nur wenig floss waren zwei Enten die es auch genoßen hatten etwas Sonnenschein zu bekommen.
Triffen Conservation Park wird im April das ” Spring Tonic Maple Syrup Festival” haben. So in paar Bildern könnt Ihr sehen wie die Ahornbäume für den Zucker Lauf schon an geschlossen sind… doch fließt der Zuckersaft noch nicht… noch zu kalt.
Weiter ging es doch etwas weg von dem Huptweg.>>> Wir haben ja Schneeschuhe….Wooo … alles, was ich sagte zu meinem Mann war.” Weißt du, was das sein könnte?” Los weg von hier! Ich werde nicht warten, um zu sehen … aber ich musste zwei 
schnelle Fotos doch haben …. Du kanst mir sagen, wenn Du das gleiche denkst . Könnte dies ein Winter Bären Höhle sein, was denkst Du?
Späte, stießen wir auf einige wirklich interesante Winter Überlebenshütten. Ich würde vermuten, sie wurde von den Personal bei Tiffin für die ” Maple Syrup Festival” aufgebaut. Wirklich cool, wir konnten es einfach nicht lassen und mussten diese ausproieren…
Ein wunderbaren Sonntag hatten wir Beide miteinander ….hoffe doch bald wieder dort hin zu gehen…
