Jelly Roll Bag

Photo 2018-07-11, 3 36 35 PMI was inspired by this Jelly Roll Rug…and well you know I have a thing for Bags…So I thought of creating my own bag with the same method.

So a customer at work had her quilt quilted and did not need the extra fabric that we usually have to cut off to straighten the quilt. She gave all that to me. It already had some of the batting sewn on to the strips that I cut into 2,5″ strips. Yes I know it has some of the sewing from quilting on the strips ….That doesn’t bother me at all.  I find it adds the uniqueness to this bag.

I had some fabric that was perfect in colour to make my sided and leather handles that oh yes are just perfect for this bag too.  Love the green and brown together…

Hope to have this pattern soon available for You too to make your fun bag too and see where it will go….

Spring Into Spring Cardi

IMG_1704
I had knit this before on a trip back home to Switzerland and then gifted it to one of my best friends Marianne.
Thought it was time for me to have one too….Or perhaps it to will be a gift. Or if anyone loves it I would be willing to sell it too….Smiles I have enough yarn, I could make another one….
This is a very lose fitting cardi on me so would fit someone with medium to large size too.
Really starting to use up my stashed yarn. So thought this FibraNatura Good Earth Solids
would be perfect for this pattern  original  is found 19 Jacke by Lang Yarns

Crochet T-Shirt-Fabric Bag

IMG_1340What to do when you don’t feel like knitting or sewing… Used no pattern for this design..just started to crochet.

I had bought many years back in Switzerland some of the string yarn… now it was time to use it up.

Bought some more of T-Shirt fabric that I cut up…Hope to writ this pattern up shortly for any one that likes to crochet one bag too.

For the handles I used 2 of the same inexpensive Belts that I had extra holes added by a local shoe repair place.

Then just wove the belt straps in to the bag

Turquoise Charm Bag

File 2017-08-02, 7 39 35 PMMy “Turquoise Charm Bag” has been an inspiration from the turquoise waters from Antigua… So blue and clear.

Then on one of our visits to the festivals here in our town, I fell in love with this type of bags. Made all with cotton ropes and fabric strips sewn together….

I had seen this before in one of the magazines I get from Europe and said I really want to make one of them.  So off with no pattern …File 2017-08-02, 7 39 49 PM

Well I tell you it does take a lot of rope and fabric. Your fingers will love you after rolling the ropes in the fabric too. But wait the fun is still to come …..Now you get to sew the covered ropes to each into a coil,  just like a snail-shell looks …well kind of. But you get what I am telling you…a lot of fun …oh yes it gets better now you have to curve this bag too so it has a wall…oh yes curve it! That takes some practice I tell you. You can see mine is not perfect but almost ….I love it. Pick a fabric you really love and then just go for it…I have mine from “The Quilt Store” and we have lots more of it to chose from…The cotton clothes line rope I bought at Wallmart….kind of bought all they had at the time…5/8″ thick. Oh use a topstitch needle 100/16  and  Cotton Petites by Sulky Thread for the top and regular for the bobbin.

So once it was all sewn together and I had used up almost 300 yards of rope for this size. It was a really squishy thing to put in my sewing machine throught opening I tell you… well worth the results….smiles

What do I use for the handles? Was looking for old horse rains….all my friends that have horses….I thought for sure would have one old one hanging around…..

Today I notices my purse, I had been using for just a view weeks ….oh no is falling apart…. yes!! Now I have handles I can use….why through away the purse when I can take it apart and use items from it…yes rip, rip, rip….

Right Ave and Judy you have seen me doing this crazy thing ….Have a look what my new bag looks like now…

Easy Mesh Pullover

2016-06-24 09.04.37-1Wish I had bought more of this gorgeous cotton yarn when I was home last April in Möhlin. My mom and I found this in our local “Landi” in Möhlin. Called “Baumwollgarn Fil De Coton”a sport weight cotton great for many crochet or knit projects.
Hope one day the Landi will carry more of it again so I can get more of it.
It worked up beautiful for this Easy Mesh Pullover by Teresa Chorzepa.

Love the feel and look of the yarn and sweater. Used a hook size 3.5mm (E) and all of the 4 skeins (400 grams) I bought for a small/medium  but had to hook on for the larger size due to yarn.2016-06-24 09.04.40-1

Placemats for Valentine’s Day

File 2016-02-07, 3 29 24 PMPlacemats for Valentine’s Day

Oh if you have followed my blog you know I love this pattern for my placemats. They just work perfect for our kitchen Island…..and some Swiss “Schoggi” Chocolate!!!

I tell you it is hard to see all this gorgeous fabric come into  The Quilt Store where I work.

I do love putting the ohh so many colour combos for the quilts or other projects together…. For myself I tend to work on smaller projects at this time. Really love the modern feel of some quilts we are getting in too.

Hope I can work on a table runner that I really want to piece together soon too. But have to finish a view knitting projects first too.

Pass immer perfect in meine Küche!

Forest Weave

It kind of looks like I strayed away from knitting. By far I have to say. Busy with lots of new projects on the go i kind of forgot to post them. Believe me I will try to show you over the next view weeks.

So this Forest Weave by Yumiko Alexander  is a real simple and fun knit so much so I had a view orders in to knit for friends. This summer top is knit side ways and all with some cable work and dropped stitches a fun summer knit.

Glad to use my “Mablez” needle at 5.5mm as they have a bit of a sharper point and FibraNatura Good Earth Solids a Aran weight 53% Cotton, 47% Linen wa ideal for this top.

For small size 5.5 skeins for medium to larger size 6 to 7 skeins in this yarn.

Great for the office in the summer or cooler night. But wait who said you can’t wear it in the winter with a turtleneck under it.
