Thanks Sew Much

IMG_1786Best thing Clodagh my boss said to me yesterday, was

“Let’s work up an embroidery Design from our newest Anita Goodesign All Access Club …..oh yes, and try to do it on the Baby Lock Alliance Embroidery machine”

If you could have seen my reaction …Smiles Yes with open arms literally …I welcomed and needed that challenge. Sometimes it is hard to see the light when your so sad and can’t see the sunshine in life…

Out came the manual and step by step I worked up this card….Yes I Can

I now think this would be a really great machine for me at home too all the many ideas I have for it…Just need the funds for it…haha. I a sure I am not the only one with this thought…

Crochet T-Shirt-Fabric Bag

IMG_1340What to do when you don’t feel like knitting or sewing… Used no pattern for this design..just started to crochet.

I had bought many years back in Switzerland some of the string yarn… now it was time to use it up.

Bought some more of T-Shirt fabric that I cut up…Hope to writ this pattern up shortly for any one that likes to crochet one bag too.

For the handles I used 2 of the same inexpensive Belts that I had extra holes added by a local shoe repair place.

Then just wove the belt straps in to the bag

Ultimate Pocket Purse

IMG_0974Do You love pockets in Your Purse….I do!

Have a look at all these pockets in this Purse..!

Original pattern is “The Ultimate Sewing bag” and since this bag will not be used for sewing items or  taking along notions to classes.

We decided to eliminate the iron pad.

Ok You know what that tells me ….Modifications are in order!

Though truly if you are going to sewing Retreats the “Ultimate Sewing Bag” idea IS  a wonderful addition FOR ALL THE NOTIONS.

Here for this Ultimate Pocket Purse I modified the one side to make it the same as the other shorter side and did not add the iron bad to bottom…

I never took the class we have running at the store so …I have to say this is not a beginner project and it did give me some challenges …but I did it…Yehhh so happy about it !!!

You can see I added a special front panel to this bag.

Have printed, yes on fabric sheets a special picture that my friend has created of her dog “Rudy” she wood burned his image on a piece of wood…She called this “Pyrography”

And Voila …all done and hopefully the happy owner will be pleased too…..

Thanks Ave for a wonderful “One Of A Kind” gift you created for my husbands special Birthday!

Ultimate….Pockets…Knitting Bag

IMG_2845Yehhh I finished this bag ….after 3 days of sewing….I did it!!!

The pattern is at it original way a Sewing Bag…

I like it, but since I would never use the ironing pad on it. I decided to alter this up…

followed the pattern (except for iron pad)   ….till I came to outer panels.

I tell You I am glad I have a workhorse fo a sewing machine, Janome MC6500 . I used faux Suede and the interfacing was heavy too. Would go lighter next time in my choice of Interfacing or Stabilizer.

Then I was not sure where I had gone wrong? Somehow I ended up with two the same with outer fabric 1 facing out and second 1 facing in….NOOOOO!!! Why is that I ask? IMG_2847

Off to my modifications working a side panel like in the “Sew Together Bag”.  Only to realize that now the bag front and back are falling way to much open.

IMG_2827 - Copy

OK, what next was my question? Lets turn bag inside out and make more pockets…LOL

Perfect !!! FINISHED HUwww…

IMG_2840 - Copy

So I am looking forward to seeing the once worked up at the store…It is the first bag I have put together that has lots of zippers, pockets and folder slots.

I think this will be a great bag to go travel with. Perfect for Passports, Travel documents and yes even my DSL Camera should fit in to my modified bag…

Happy with the end result….yes not perfect with all the exact precise measures….I like it and I managed to sew it up on my own (Embroidery  section for Front pocket is a sample that was going into the garbage!)

Smiles and I get to make another one too….;-)))))

Happy Sewing

Could Not “Resist” Sewing Today…

File 2018-02-04, 6 48 26 PMThis Sew Together Bag is so much fun to sew up…and I am getting better at it too.

I have a view more I’ll be sewing together with fabric I just love, love, love….I think they are great gifts for ….friends and family.

The gold silver one  below I pieced fabric together with the curved piecing method…and used a shorter zipper to make it more like a purse.

Perfect for NOTIONS of all kinds even Toiletries,Cosmetic or Jewellery I guess…

Smiles just in case you are not into knitting or sewing…I think this would be perfect to take along on a trip.

I will try sewing up another really great bag that we have a class at my work.…so itching to sew that one up too. I just need the pattern  for it…

Sew TOGETHER Bag

File 2018-01-30, 7 39 00 PM“Sew TOGETHER Bag” is this awesome bag  from “Sew Demented” that anyone can sew up in a day for first time using the pattern…Well it took me 5 hours for this one. Really had to think what it is telling me to do next in the pattern…and not rush into sewing sections together.File 2018-01-30, 7 38 42 PM

So I took my time and looked everything over twice before I cut or sewn the sections together..

and It worked out pretty amazing I think…This bag is perfect for Knitting or sewing notions. I’ll make a view more for sure…just need more zippers and some fabric…but guess what? SMILES……I am working Friday and Saturday so I have that alllll……right in front of me alllll day…smiles.  Ok If you like I can show you too where we have the pattern and help you with selections for the fabric ….looking forward to see you then. Really love this Sew together bag…..

Love

Zipper Dilemma

Zipper was to long……

NOOOOO!

Now what?

Thought I’ll show you how I fixed this issue…..

I had to replace a zipper on my hubby’s winter coat. I guess I could have taken it to the local dry cleaning place that will replace zippers  at $30+ ….nonono I have a good sewing machine and I am sure I can do this too.

File 2018-01-27, 2 54 29 PMSo I cut the top end of zipper off. Then took the piece I cut off reversed the teeth into the ends of the zipper so they now are interlocked with each other. As I needed a stopper at the top so the zipper-pully doesn’t come off zipper end.

I had a wood burning iron around the house from my kids that thy don’t use anymore. Took this and melted the two teeth that now are interlocked together. Voila I have a stopper on each side now…Sooo easy and perfect. Just needed to cut off the fabric part now and kind of melt the zipper fabric that has been cut so it would not fray

Modern Placemats

File 2018-01-18, 3 06 20 PMLove the more modern style in quilting.

So it is not surprising that I love this look in  placemats.

I had worked up a Table Runner two weeks ago called “River Stones” and had some sewn fabric section left from this Table runner.

The pattern indicating it would be for a Runner and a pillow. Beautiful, but I really did not need another pillow in my home.

So you can see I added some more strips to the already sewn pieces and divided the length into two sections that now are the perfect size for two placemats. If I would make this pattern for placemats only, I would make the two section ONE!File 2018-01-18, 3 05 58 PM

…but for now I am ok as is as sections where sewn already and I had only very little fabric left.

Really love this look, very modern and fun.

And as You can see I have added my next project on the knitting needles too…SOCKS!

I am working them with new needles…more in my next post…..see you soon again :-)

“River Stones” Table Runner

File 2018-01-10, 8 40 43 AMFound this “River Stones” pattern at Creative Festival about two years ago.

Valerie Miller  has gorgeous patterns for Table runners. In this particular pattern, she even has enough fabric that you piece together for the runner, that is left to make the pillow too. So fabric amount is for runner and pillow.File 2018-01-10, 8 41 35 AM

Okay I know mine is not exactly like she indicated to do this pattern. But that is me….always making projects my own…

Followed all instructions correctly to the point to where it tells you to lay outsides together and sew then together then flip it so outside is now facing out. Now you supposed to quilt it…okay my next one will be like that.

My changes for this one where:   I sandwiched all section together just like one does for a quilt and then quilted each section with a fun different pattern. Then sewed the binding on.

All the quilting I worked on my own with free motion designs I found on the net or tips from my co-workers. My Janome MC6500 machine is perfect for this and I love this free designing the most as I can be creative and have fun. Always learning new ways to quilt….

File 2018-01-10, 8 42 13 AMMost of this fabric I had in my stash from about 2-3 years ago when I sewed the             Log Cabin quilt. My Stash is getting used up…now I am going to finish the rest but I think instead of a pillow I’ll make some placemates….See you soon for that post…

Enjoy YOUR fabulous day…

Coffee Shop Wrap

IMG_6172_medium2The colours in this wrap are just perfect for this pattern and guess what I used up all kinds of my left-over scarp yarns…well not really scrap yarn as it is all so wonderful and we never have scrap yarn if you are thinking like me…IMG_6142_medium2

I always tend to think what can I make with this little bit of yarn before I go to my perfectly full skeins that are just waiting to be use for

“THAT PERFECT PROJECT”

So if you are like me then you saved up many  PERFECTLY amazing yarn and use up the left-over yarns… smiles ….

I did say that I am not going to able to knit up all this yarn and wear it before I am not here anymore….well I decided to start using my So Amazing yarns and knit up something gorgeous. Even If I have to give it to an appreciating person that would wear it….so ok enough of this chabbering…lets get knitting… and designing my next project for January issue….off to work I go.

But here is the info for this fun wrap ….totally love it.

Coffee Shop Wrap by Alexandra Tavel

and the yarn is the best I have to say …smiles my own KnitSwissYarns and all in  Fingering 100% Superwash Merino Wool as I said all bits and pices …and needle size 4mm just really love that lose drap to the wrap.

Quilted Rug Sewing At My House

IMG_0098Yes it was a day or two of sewing

Quilted Rug Sewing At My House”

after all I work in a place that sells lots of quilting fabric at  “The Quilts Store”

The fun part of this is, we get some amazing teachers in from time to time..but let me tell you we have several of my colleges that are amazing teachers too.

One of the classes was this

  Quilted Rugs with Al Cote

Have a look at one of my earlier posts another great teacher. I would recommend either one of their classes for sure.

Yes I was working my shift but I had to see all the wonderful samples the students/customers where working on from time to time too. Smiles, just part of me interacting with the customers too…I believe this is my role in good customer service too.

So I picked up the some tips on how to make something like this RUG too. But since I was not in the class my sample may not be exactly as Al instructed it …but I am happy with the way it turned out. Though I wish it would rag more like the rag quilts do.

Really fun, though the cutting out of all the fabric was a bit “ahhhh” do I have to through all this fabric out to get to the 1st, 2nd, 3rd layer etc….I guess it will go in a bag for stuffing.

My kind of “The Joker and the Thief”

Photo 2017-11-04, 3 12 46 PMWhat am I talking about? You may ask your self…..well it is that the original pattern …

yes a knitting pattern smiles….

“The Joker and the Thief ” is all worked up with many fun and wonderful colours ,gorgeous for sure.

Leave it up to me though,I wanted to see how this pattern by Melanie Berg would look in just one colour. My KnitSwissYarns Fingering Merino Silk I used for this pattern is a very light tone on tone and in the right light will have a hint of purple, though the may colour is dark gray. IMG_9956

Loved the pattern and the distinct row of the 8 stitches add a definite interest to this shawl design. I truly enjoyed knitting this shawl up for my friends Ursi back home…..we enjoyed a truly fun time together in September on our Rhein River holiday.
