Home made Rhubarb with Plum Jam…

Really so fast and super easy to make in less than one hour. Had cut up rhubarb in my freezer from June. what to do with all this growth of rhubarb I ask myself that time. Freezer it was. Ahhh, now the Plums are coming….so cut them all up with skin attached even better.

So 1 kilo fruit 500 gram white sugar and off in the pot to cook ….and wow sooooo good. pour the am into already hot maison jars, lid on, and cool. Once cooled I store them in the freezer. Good for a year for sure if you do not eat it before.

ps this gave me 3 -4 smaller jars.

Hausgemachte Rhabarber mit Pflaumen Konfiture …

Wirklich so schnell und super einfach in weniger als einer Stunde zu machen. Hatte seit Juni geschnittene Rhabarber in meinem Gefrierschrank. Was mache ich mit all diesem Wachstum von Rhabarber, frage ich mich zu der Zeit. Ap in die Gefriertruhe!! Ahhh, jetzt heisst es “Pflaumen” los geht es diese in Stücke zu schneiden sogar besser mit der Haut. Lach bei mir gingen diese in den Zyliss. So 1 Kilo Früchte messen, 500 Gramm Weißzucker und ab in den Topf zu kochen …. und wow Die Konfitüre ist fertig und sooooo gut. in die heissen Glässer abfüllen und verschliessen dann abwarten bis sie kalt sind und ap in den Eischschrank. Dort beibt diese gute fuer ein Jahr sicher wenn Du sie nicht vorher isst.

Knit Knit Knit was my job. Well not a job a passion I can truly say. Never without anything on my needles.

So here is the Baby Surprise Jacket once again. A favourite knit for Babies.

Here I used only one skein of my own “KnitswissYarns”

100% Superwash merino Sport weight. One skein just finished it all up nicely. For the 0-3/5 month old (160 sts)

This pattern has been around for many years and so many People love to knit this.

Süß wie immer, ist diese Baby-Jacke ….. stricken stricken stricken war mein Job. Also, nicht ein Job eine Leidenschaft, das darf ich wirklich sagen. Nie ohne etwas auf meine Nadeln.

Also hier ist das Baby Surprise Jacket wieder. Ein beliebtes stricken von mir. Nicht mein eigenes Muster. Das Muster gibt es schon seit vielen Jahren und so viele Menschen lieben es zum Stricken.

So wenn Du in meiner Nachbarschaft wohnst und Du auch so eine Baby Jacke stricken willst schreib mir nur ein paar Zeilen und wir sehen was wir so für Tage frei haben. Auch wenn Du Stricken oder Häckeln lernen wills…frag mich nur.

Sooo sweet ….perfect little gift for a Baby Shower.

All finished up in less than 3 days…cut, pinned, sewn all around the bunny, “Bambi”, birdhouses, fox and along the tree/trunk ….So much fun.

Sue really enjoyed sewing this one up quickly for You. Thanks for the honours.

Used a homespun fabric for the back…..Love, love, Love this panel. Really hope we get some more of this panel for Northcott in as this quilt already has found a home….Little sweet baby Boy hope you keep warm and snugly once You arrive to your wonderful World….

Alle fertig in weniger als 3 Tagen … Schnitt, gemerkt, genäht ganzen Hase, “Bambi”, hunnypots an der Baum …. So viel Spaß. Ich benutzte einen homespun Stoff für die Rückseite ….. Liebe, Liebe, Liebe dieses Panel. Nun hoffe ich wir werden noch mehr von den Stoff bekommen da dieser Quilt schon jemanden gehört. Kleiner sweetheart hoffe dieser Quilt wird auch dich warm halten wenn du in die Welt kommst….

Easy Mesh Pullover

Wish I had bought more of this gorgeous cotton yarn when I was home last April in Möhlin. My mom and I found this in our local “Landi” in Möhlin. Called “Baumwollgarn Fil De Coton”a sport weight cotton great for many crochet or knit projects.

Hope one day the Landi will carry more of it again so I can get more of it.

It worked up beautiful for this Easy Mesh Pullover by Teresa Chorzepa.

Love the feel and look of the yarn and sweater. Used a hook size 3.5mm (E) and all of the 4 skeins (400 grams) I bought for a small/medium but had to hook on for the larger size due to yarn. 2016-06-24 09.04.40-1

Gerne hätte ich noch ein paar Kneuel mehr von diesem wunderschönen Baumwollgarn das ich in Möhlin im April in der Landi gekauft hatte. Dieses ” Baumwollgarn Fil De Coton ” ist ideal für viele häkeln oder strick Projekte . Hoffe, dass eines Tages die Landi es wieder im verkauf haben wird, damit ich (oder Mutt,) mehr davon besorgen kann. Ja auch meine Mutter hätte diesen pullover gern zum anziehen wie ich weiss.

Einfach perfect für diesen Netz Pullover von Teresa Chorzepa. Verwendet einen Häkel Größe 3,5 mm (E) und alle 4 Stränge (400 Gramm) für eine kleine / mittlere Grösse musste aber wegen dem Garn auf die größere Massgröße Haken. Hab es nicht gern wenn alles so eng an liegt.

What to do on a rainy day?

Well it truly has been a long time since we had a good rain here in the Upper York Region of Ontario. I have enjoyed the hot summer so far, but some rain is definitely welcomed today.

So home I was and normally I would do my everyday stuff and once that is done I do enjoy some knitting. But today I thought lets change this up and sewing away.

Yesterday at my workplace “The Quilt Store” I could not resist buying one of the panels I sold to a customer. Just have to make one too. Soooo sweet and great for both bay or girl.

Fabric by : Northcott Fabrics “A Little Birdie Told Me” But wait I already have all this christmas prints at home. Got to finish this one too. Was macht man an einem regnerischen Tag? Nun, es ist sicher schon lange her seit es bei uns geregnet hat hier in Upper York Region von Ontario. Obwohl ich den heißen Sommer bisher geniesse, aber etwas Regen wird auf jeden Fall heute begrüßt.

Normaly würde ich meine alltäglichen Dinge zuerst fertig bringen und dann geht es los mit dem Stricken….Lach kann nicht nur herum hocken und nichts machen…

Heute dachte ich jetzt wird genäht. Konnte es nicht unterlassen selber auch ein Pannel von den herzigen Kinderstoff zu kaufen den ich einer Kundin empfohlen hatte beim “The Quilt Store”. Aber warte Ich habe ja auch noch Weihnachts Stoff gekauft den ich schon etwas zusammen genäht habe….loss gehts heute weiter nähen….

File 2016-05-31, 8 08 57 PM Sunshine all around….thought it was the perfect day to dye a view skeins of yarn…Only to find out I ordered the fingering weight instead of the sport weight yarn….off to the ordering again as I have a view of my friends looking for the “Sport Weight” not fingering Weight….but as I had the skeins soaking already why not go ahead with giving them a colour….

Since I am already on a roll why not put 4 skeins of Milk Protein Fibres/ Bamboo in the dye bath and 3 skeins of Silk /Linen to see how they take the dye….Gorgeaous is all I say.

Hope to knit some sample up soon too.

Sonnenschein….perfekter Tag zum Färben von Garnen. Nur um herauszufinden, ich bestellte Fingering Weight anstelle von Sport Weight. Oh je Oh je ..die Bestellung muss schnell weiter gehen. Doch nun hatte ich die Knäuel schon eingeweicht im Wasser Bad dann soll es auch weiter gehen mit dem Färben. Wunderschön!

Weiter geht es mit 4 Knäuel von Milch Protine Fasern/ Bambus im Färbebad und 3 Knäuel aus Seide/Leinen. Nur zu sehen wie die verschieden Mediums die Farbstoffe annehmen werden…WUNDERSCHÕN ist alles was ich sage

Hoffe bald damit einige fertige gestrickte exemplare zu zeigen

Homespun Rag Quilt

Yes new Homespun fabric has arrived at “The Quilt Store” where I work…

Love the colours and I have to tell you the Homespun is one of my favourite fabrics by far.

Well next to the batik. But with batik you can’t make a rag quilt…So this Homespun is a perfect weight for a spring or summer evening cuddle quilt sitting by the fire camping or in your backyard.

You too can sew this up in no time.

I was kind of thinking of making a longer rag wrap quilt for me to put over my shoulders in the evenings…but really need to get some headway with some of my knitting too.

All you need is half a meter of 6 colours each.

Cut them into 6″ squares (my front and back are the same fabric) then deco stitch a “X” with any fancy stitch you like onto the 6″square. Sew them all in a pleasing way together with a 1/2″ sem . I had 6 squares by 9 squares as you can see in the picture or at the store.

For the edging you need about 1.20 meters of one colour cut them into 5″ stripes and fold in half. This amount was based on the length 9 squares that now are only 5″ due to the 1/2″ seam. I sewed the edge onto the 9 square length first then the 5 square edge.

Cut the fringes and off to the wash…Please make sure once you put this into the drier you empty the filter about every 3-5 minutes believe me it will be full of lint.

On Top Of The World – The Saentis

Yes this feels like I was “On Top Of The World” a visit on The Säntis in Switzerland. I could not get enough of the Mountains my Swiss Alps so love them. my Mom and her friend and I stayed up there for almost three hours. I did not want to leave and head back. The view was just breathtaking. If I had known we could stay overnight there I would have for sure but that will be on my next trip and hubby will come along too.

The view just something else, The “Bergdole” that is what we call the black mountain birds, the food and Coffee ice cream was delicious. Thank you Mom for taking me on this trip.

Ja, das fühlt sich an als waren wir “Auf dem Gipfel der Welt”, ein Besuch auf dem Säntis in der Schweiz. Ich konnte nicht genug bekommen von den Bergen meine Schweizer Alpen so wunderschön .

Meine Mutter , Ihre Freundin und ich waren dort hoch oben für fast drei Stunden. Ich hatte keine Drang wieder ins Tall zu gehen. Die Aussicht war einfach atemberaubend. Wenn ich gewusst hätte, wir könnten übernachten dort auf dem Säntis hätte ich das sicher mehr überlegt. Das werden dann mein Mann und ich vielleicht einmal machen.

Die Ansicht ist Unglaublich schön , die”Bergdole” auch wieder einmal schön zu sehen, das Essen und das Icecaffee ….Yummy . Danke Mutt für dieser wunderschöne Reise.

Rheinfelden, Switzerland

Rheinfelden is a town next to my hometown Möhlin only about a 10 minute drive away from us. Love visiting it every time I come home. For many reasons…Has my favourite yarn store “Strickeria Gomitolo” there. Rheinfelden has a really nice “Altstadt” all in cobblestone and only foot traffic. Sooo very pretty you have to walk the side paths on your next visit too! See one of my older posts. Rheinfelden is surrounded by a huge stone wall from the old times

From the Swiss Rheinfelden you can cross the bridge by foot to the German Rheinfelden too. And on the way there have a walk on our famous “Inseli” You can see the “Schwarzwald” (Blackforest ) from there too. It is home to Feldschlösschen, the most popular beer in Switzerland. Oh and did I tell you about the little Goats they have just outside the city walls…sooo cute. I am in love with the animals…

Rheinfelden ist eine Altstadt neben meiner Heimatdorf Möhlin nur ca. 5-10 Minuten mit dem Auto von uns entfernt. Wenn ich auf Besuch gehe in die Schweiz gehe ich immer dort in das Städtlein für viele Gründe…es besitzt mein lieblings Geschäft “Strickeria Gomitolo“. Die “Altstadt” ist belegt mit……. Ohhh bitte helft mir aus hier ist es auch “Kobblestein” genannt? auch nur für den Fußgängerverkehr . Sooo super toll! Doch Du musst auch die vielen Seitenwege hoch laufen ! Ja auch das das Felschösschen Bier kennen wir ja alle

Von dem Schweizer Rheinfelden kannst Du auch zu Fuss über die Brücke zu den Deutschen Rheinfelden. Und auf dem Weg dorthin schnell auf einen Spaziergang an unserem berühmten “Inseli” von dort kannst Du den Schwarzwald im Hintergrund sehen. Oh ja hatte bald fergessen …die Geissli sind sooo sweet…

“OH CANADA”

was hoping to find a jellyroll with all Swiss prints on the fabric…but my time back home in Switzerland did not allow it. So decided to just make this the quilt it is now.

With the hope one day I will find that jellyroll of Swiss prints too.

Dieser Quilt “OH CANADA” gefält mir recht gut. War auf der Suche nach einem Jellyroll Stoff bedruckt mit Schweizer Motiven …aber meine Zeit dazu war zu kurtz. So beschloss ich nun diesen Quilt fertig zu nähn. Meine Kanadischer Quilt. In der Hoffnung, dass ich eines Tages doch noch so etliche Schweizer Motiven Stoff finden werde.

Grocery Shopping In Switzerland

It felt like we had the store to our selfes….So big and almost no one was in the isles. Love the bread section and the fruit tray was kind of fun too. One basket with three different fruits. The cheese ahhh so yummy wish I could have brought some back. But no dairy products are allowed to bring to Canada. Sadly.

The meat and cold cuts wow so many choices. Then I totally forgot the CHOCOLATE section….ahhhhh here I did bring some back.

Es fühlte sich an, als hätten wir den Laden für uns allein….so groß und es hatte gar nicht viele Einkäufer. Liebe die Brot Abteilung und die Früchten waren eigendlich recht toll abgepackt. Einen Korb mit drei verschiedenen Früchten. Der Käse ahhh so lecker, ich wünschte, ich könnte etwas zurück bringen. Aber keine Frishen

Moehlin, Switzerland

Arrived in Möhlin, Switzerland on April 15th. for a visit to see my Mother and Brother.

Always fun to see all the Family and Friends after many months or years at times. For the first view days it was raining and kind of damp and cold, but with the spring colours out already it had to get nice I hoped. And by mid-week it was gorgeous weather too.

I am surprised how this town has changed so much over the last 30 years. Kind of happy to see still some old homes standing, see pictures below.

Angekommen in Möhlin ,Aargau war ich am 13. April für eine Woche. Ja ich weiss nicht lange genug…doch besser soviel als gar nicht hoffe ich.

Ist ja immer schön meine Mutter und Bruder sowie Familie und Freunde zu sehen.

Wärent den ersten paar Tagen hat es geregnet und war auch etwas kühler. Doch mit dem Frühling hier hoffte ich doch auf ein paar schöne sonnige Tage. Die Sonne zeigte sich dann auch mitte Woche…es ich kaum zu glauben wie Möhlin sich geändert hat in den letzten 30 Jahren!

Oh Canada Quilt

Oh this one is in the works since this morning. Thought after a day’s work at the store I have to be productive and work on my stash of fabric for a change. So here is the beginning of this

“OH CANADA”

After 2 1/2 hours of sewing the fabric pieces together I now have to get batting and the backing and quilt it too. But not today as it is nice I really should go work in my backyard a little…

So see you soon with the finished Quilt.

Oh, dieses ist in den Werken seit heute Morgen. Dachte nach einem Tag Arbeit dass auch ich etwas mehr produktiv sein könnte und an meinem Vorrat von Stoff etwas ändern könnte. Hier ist also der Beginn dieses “OH CANADA” lab Quilt.

So nach 2 1/2 Stunden Stoff zusammen nähen ist die Oberflähe fertig geworden …nun gehts los mit der Batting und dem Hintergrund und quilten. Aber nicht Heute! Da es schön ist draussen ist sollte ich doch auch noch etwas im Garten tun….Lach

Traveling To Switzerland
